Trailer with rear impact guard

A trailer frame includes a rear bolster, cross-members, and corner gussets extending forwardly from ends of the rear bolster. A rear impact guard includes a bumper positioned at the rear end of the trailer and spaced below the rear bolster, pair of outboard posts, and at least one inboard post. The outboard posts extend between the bumper and the rear bolster adjacent respective opposed distal ends of the bumper, and the inboard post extends between the bumper and the rear bolster between the outboard posts. Each of the pair of outboard posts has a lower end that overlaps with a respective mounting bracket that protrudes upwardly toward the rear bolster from the bumper such that mounting holes of the outboard posts align with mounting holes of the mounting brackets. A laterally-outboard panel of each mounting bracket extends obliquely from the bumper in a direction with a laterally-outward component.

Adjustable truck frame side guard assembly
10259414 · 2019-04-16 · ·

An adjustable side guard assembly that fits into the void space formed on a truck that prevents other motor vehicles or objects from entering the void space. The assembly includes an elongated side plate attached to a rigid frame. The rigid frame has two support members that extend pivotally attached to two laterally extending horizontal members. The distal ends of the two horizontal members engage slots formed on the side plate enabling the side plate to be longitudinally adjusted inside the void space. The opposite ends of the two horizontal members are attached to two upper mounting brackets that are attached to the vehicle frame. A diagonal member may be attached at one end of the horizontal member and at an opposite end to a lower mounting bracket attached to the vehicle frame.

Integral damage control by interaction between a collision detection system and a bumper system

Activating a smart bumper system is provided. Traffic data are received from a set of sensors located on each of a plurality of vehicles within a defined area. A collision is predicted between two or more vehicles is imminent based on analyzing the traffic data. A smart bumper system of at least one of the two or more vehicles that will be involved in the predicted collision is actuated to minimize an amount of damage during the predicted collision.

Emergency Response Barrier

An emergency response barrier is shown and described, the barrier having a cab and engine for propelling the barrier; a frame with reinforcing bracing; two axles coupled to the frame with wheels attached thereto; wherein the frame is covered with a substantially planar skin that extends along the right and left sides of the frame, from a top of the frame down to a lower edge and covers a majority of the wheels on each side of the barrier; an impact attenuator coupling on the frame, having a vertical pin received in a bore disposed on an impact attenuator, and configured for rotation about the vertical axis of the pin; and a hydraulic cylinder connected between the frame and the impact attenuator, wherein retraction and extension of the hydraulic cylinder moves the impact attenuator through an arc of rotation about the vertical pin.

SIDE UNDERRIDE GUARD

A side underride system configured to be coupled to a trailer is provided. The side underride system includes a support system, including a brace system and a cable, configured to be positioned below the trailer to provide side underride protection. The brace system includes a plurality of cross-braces that each extend across a width of the trailer and are spaced apart at intervals along a length of the trailer. The cable is configured to extend across the intervals between the cross-braces.

Mounting system for vehicle underride

A mounting mechanism for mounting an underride system on a structure, comprises a pair of clamping jaws, and a first bracket including a first edge for coupling the underride system thereto. The first bracket further includes a second edge for coupling the pair of clamping jaws thereto. Wherein, the first bracket and the pair of clamping jaws define a jaw opening therebetween configured to receive at least a portion of the structure for removably mounting the underride system on the structure using the mounting mechanism.
