REAR IMPACT GUARD ASSEMBLY FOR TRAILERS
A semi-trailer has a rear impact guard including an elongated horizontal member that attaches to a trailer by a pair of vertical guards. The horizontal member may have a top surface, a bottom surface, and a leading edge from which a surface of the guard member extends rearward to the top or bottom surface. The rear impact guard may include a pair of gussets that extend from the vertical guards. Each gusset may include a main generally planar portion, a first stiffening flange perpendicular to the main portion, and a second stiffening flange perpendicular to the first stiffening flange.

REAR IMPACT GUARD
A rear impact guard configured to be coupled to a rear end of a vehicle comprises a bumper support member, a support base, and a horizontal bumper. The bumper support member is configured to be coupled to the rear end of the vehicle. The support base is configured to be coupled to the rear end of the vehicle, configured to be positioned adjacent to a sidewall of the vehicle and below a floor assembly of the vehicle, and is in contact with the bumper support member and extends further forward toward a front of the vehicle than the bumper support member. The horizontal bumper is mounted at a lower end of the bumper support member.

VEHICLE UNDERRIDE IMPACT DETECTION SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Devices and methods are disclosed for detecting or predicting an underride impact. An example vehicle includes a camera for capturing an image of a target vehicle, sensors for detecting a speed and heading of the vehicle, and a processor. The processor is configured to determine a target vehicle classification, determine an open space of the target vehicle, determine a closing speed between the vehicle and target vehicle, predict an underride impact based on the classification, open space, and closing speed, and responsively execute an impact action.
Structure of underrun protection
A structure of an underrun protection bound to a plurality of brackets disposed at the front or rear portion of a frame of a vehicle is disclosed. A distal panel being disposed on a distal side of a longitudinal direction of the vehicle is bound to a proximal panel being disposed on a proximal side of the longitudinal direction at engaged overlapping parts each at which an edge of a flange of the distal panel is in contact with an edge of a flange of the proximal panel. A reinforcing panel is disposed at a binder part in a hollow, the underrun protection bound to the plurality of brackets at a plurality of the binder parts such that the reinforcing panel is in contact with the inner face of one of the proximal panel and the distal panel and is in contact with the engaged overlapping part.

SIDE UNDERRIDE GUARD
A side underride system configured to be coupled to a trailer may comprise a first skirt wall coupled to the trailer, positioned below a first side wall of the trailer, and extending along a first length of the trailer between a skirt wall front end and a skirt wall rear end and a cable system including a first cable coupled to the trailer, positioned below the first side wall, and extending along a second length of the trailer between a cable system front end and a cable system rear end, the skirt wall rear end being positioned forward of the cable system rear end.
REAR IMPACT GUARD FOR A VEHICLE
A vehicle includes a frame and a bumper pivotally connected to the frame. An actuator is mounted to the frame and coupled to the bumper. The actuator is operable to pivot the bumper relative to the frame between a substantially vertical position and an angled position. A user interface is used to activate the actuator. A vehicle controller is programmed to receive a signal from the user interface, and responsive to receiving the signal, activate the actuator to pivot the bumper. The controller may also issue warnings to the driver when the bumper is in an incorrect position for the current driving conditions.
REAR GUARD STRUCTURE SYSTEM
Provided is a rear guard structure system including: a chassis frame attached to the bottom of a vehicle; a plurality of guard stays having one ends hinge-coupled to chassis-frame hinges at both sides of the chassis frame through first hinges; and a rear guard attached to the other ends of the guard stays. A first stopper is mounted around the first hinge so as to restrict rotation of the guard stay, and includes a first buffer member to reduce shock or vibration when the rear guard is vertically vibrated.
