Seatbelt device

A seatbelt device is provided with a webbing and a bag body. The webbing is applied to the body of a vehicle occupant. The bag body includes a first layer at a webbing side and a second layer at an opposite side from the webbing, with the first layer disposed therebetween. The bag body is provided along a length direction of the webbing, fixed to one side of a thickness direction of the webbing and supported by the webbing, and disposed between the webbing and the body of the vehicle occupant in a state in which the webbing is applied to the body of the vehicle occupant. The bag body is inflated by fluid being supplied thereinside. A joined portion at which the first layer and second layer are locally joined together is formed in the bag body. The inflation of the bag body is controlled by the joined portion.

BELT ASSEMBLY INCLUDING PAYOUT MEASUREMENT

A belt assembly includes a belt retractor, a sensor having a detection field, and a belt retractably payable from the belt retractor through the detection field. The belt has a webbing and a plurality of markers fixed to the webbing. The webbing has a longitudinal length and the markers are equally spaced along the longitudinal length of the webbing. The sensor senses the length of the webbing paid out. A size of the occupant may be determined based on the length of the webbing paid out, and the size of the occupant may be used to classify the occupant in classes.

BELT ASSEMBLY INCLUDING PLUS-TWO-POINT BELT REMINDER

A plus-two-point belt system is disclosed. The plus-two-point belt system includes a longitudinal webbing anchored at a first end to a seat and fixed at a second end to a retractor. The webbing is extendable from the retractor to allow an occupant to slip their arm under the webbing to provide a supplemental restraint. The webbing includes first and second portions where the second portion is retractably coiled on the retractor and the second portion has at least one conductive marker. A sensor is provided to sense the marker and a processor is provided to set an alarm when the marker is not detected.

An upper-front of a seatback is cut, providing a hole at a position the occupant's shoulder may lie, and an engaging means able to engage with a shoulder webbing is fitted in the hole. The engaging means holds the shoulder webbing, which is wrapped around the occupant. The engaging means is, for example, a (second) buckle fitted in the hole. A second tongue (intermediate tongue) is mounted on a middle part of the shoulder webbing. The shoulder webbing is wrapped slantwise around the occupant's shoulder when the second tongue is engaged with the second buckle.
