ADAPTIVE BELT FOR IMPACT
20190299922 · 2019-10-03 · ·

An adaptive belt is attached to a vehicle seat and includes a first section (101), a second section (102), and a third section (103). The adaptive belt includes a retracted configuration and a fully extended configuration. In the retracted configuration, the adaptive belt is folded between the first section and the second section such that a first attachment attaches the first section to a first portion of the second section. In the retracted configuration, the adaptive belt is also folded between the second section and the third section such that a second attachment attaches a second portion of the second section to a first portion of the third section. In the fully extended configuration, all of the attachments fail thereby increasing a length of the adaptive belt. In response to a threshold loading condition, the adaptive belt changes from the retracted configuration to the fully extended configuration.

Child safety harness

HEIGHT ADJUSTERS WITH ANTI-CINCH FEATURES FOR OCCUPANT RESTRAINT SYSTEMS

Shock absorbing seat belt height adjusters for use with vehicle occupant restraint systems, and associated systems and methods are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a shock absorbing height adjuster can be attached to a vehicle frame between an upper anchor point and a lower anchor point adjacent to an occupant's shoulder. The height adjuster can include a web clamp that locates a D-ring for positioning a shoulder web portion of the restraint web at a desired height that is comfortable for the occupant. Additionally, the height adjuster can include an anti-cinch feature that can elastically extend in response to tension loads in the shoulder web portion, thereby reducing shock loads from being transmitted to the seat occupant from the shoulder web portion.

SEAT BELT CONNECTOR TONGUE ASSEMBLY HAVING LOCKING MECHANISM

A seat belt assembly including a seat belt webbing, a buckle, and a connector tongue assembly. The tongue assembly includes a body, a slot in the body for receiving a seat belt webbing, a locking mechanism located proximate the slot, and a spring biasing the locking mechanism towards the slot to frictionally engage the webbing to prevent freefall of the assembly.

COMPACT FORCE LIMITER FOR AUTOMOTIVE SAFETY RESTRAINTS

The present disclosure relates to an apparatus for vehicle occupant safety during automotive collisions. The apparatus includes a plurality of compression elements rigidly fixed to a first seat belt guide and a second seat belt guide. The compression elements are arranged to resist compressive loading in response to an impact force, such as that experienced during rapid deceleration of a vehicle occupant in an automotive collision. When a pre-determined threshold force has been overcome, the compression elements predictably deform, thus absorbing energy associated with the deceleration. As a result of deformation of the compression elements, additional seat belt length is pulled from the apparatus, thus shielding the vehicle occupant from maximal injury.

WEB LENGTH ADJUSTER

A web length adjuster may include a frame having a base and spaced-apart sidewalls each extending away from the base, a reaction bar mounted to and between the sidewalls and defining a first web clamping surface extending at least partially along a length of the reaction bar between the sidewalls of the frame, and a handle assembly rotatably mounted to and between the sidewalls and defining a second web clamping surface extending at least partially along a length of the handle assembly between the sidewalls of the frame, the handle assembly rotatable relative to the frame between a first position to clamp a web of a vehicle occupant restraint web between the first and second clamping surfaces and a second position to allow the web to pass between the first and second clamping surfaces. The first and second clamping surfaces may define opposite curvatures in transverse cross-section.
