Weed Seed Destruction
20180317392 · 2018-11-08 ·

Weed seeds are destroyed in the chaff from a combine harvester by repeated high speed impacts caused by a rotor mounted in one of a pair of side by side housings which accelerate the discarded seeds in a direction centrifugally away from the rotor onto a stator including angularly adjustable stator surfaces around the axis. Thus the discarded seeds rebound back and forth between the rotor and the stator to provide a plurality of impacts. The seeds are carried axially of the rotor by a controlled airstream so that they move to an axial discharge location where a discharge fan is mounted. The angle of the discharge around the rotor axis can be changed to direct the seeds to the side of the combine away from a straw chopper, towards the guide fins of the tailboard of the chopper, or into the housing of the straw chopper.

A control system for a harvester having a crop cleaner for cleaning a cut crop. The control system includes a processor, a memory, and a human-machine interface. The processor is configured to receive an input corresponding to a desired cleaning level of the crop, monitor the actual cleaning level, and control the crop cleaner based on feedback from monitoring the actual cleaning level to move the cleaning level of the crop towards the desired cleaning level of the crop.

Sieve chutes for a lower sieve of an agricultural combine
12082532 · 2024-09-10 ·

An agricultural combine has a cleaning shoe including an upper sieve or chaffer over a lower sieve. The lower sieve is over a clean gain chute. A return chute open to a return opening is under the clean grain chute. The clean grain chute receives clean grain from the chaffer and the lower sieve. The return chute receives unclean grain and tailings from the cleaning shoe through the return opening. The chaffer's rear extremity extends beyond the lower sieve's rear extremity configured with a sieve chute. The sieve chute is spaced under the chaffer's rear extremity and extends rearward and angularly upward above the return opening toward the chaffer's rear extremity from the lower sieve's rear extremity, allowing the sieve chute to intercept grain from the chaffer and divert it forward to the lower sieve and away from the return opening.

An extractor for use with a sugarcane harvester comprises a fan and a hood. The fan is configured to rotate about a fan axis for inducing a cleaning flow of air to separate crop residue from sugarcane billets. The hood is positioned to receive in an interior region of the hood the cleaning flow of air with entrained crop residue from the fan and redirect the cleaning flow of air with entrained crop residue relative to the fan axis to an outlet of the hood to exit from the interior region.

Cleaning assembly for a harvester

A cleaning assembly for a harvester has a fan assembly with a fan and a first fan outlet and a second fan outlet, a first sieve assembly with at least one reciprocable sieve, an upstream end of the first sieve assembly near the first fan outlet such that air from the first fan outlet flows along the first sieve assembly and a direction of crop flow; and a second sieve assembly has at least one reciprocable sieve, an upstream stream end of the second sieve assembly near the second fan outlet such that the air from the second fan outlet flows along the second sieve assembly and the direction of crop flow, the second sieve assembly has a clean grain auger for receiving cleaned grain, and the first sieve assembly has a further clean grain auger arranged for receiving cleaned grain.

Grain cleaning system having improved air flow and additional fall step to improve grain cleaning performance

An agricultural harvester including a chassis, a threshing and separating system for separating grain from MOG, and a grain cleaning system for further separating grain from residual MOG. The grain cleaning system has a main grain pan, an intermediate grain pan located beneath and rearward of the main grain pan, and at least one sieve located beneath and rearward of the intermediate grain pan. The main grain pan, the intermediate grain pan, and the at least one sieve are so arranged that the mixture of grain and residual MOG undergoes a first fall step from the main grain pan to the intermediate grain pan and a second fall step from the intermediate grain pan to the at least one sieve.
