Combine harvester with multi-stage grain preparation and related methods for operating a combine harvester
A combine harvester is provided with a threshing system, a preparation arrangement and cleaning arrangement. The preparation arrangement comprises multiple preparation stages, each of said stages being configured to transport said mixture over a given distance between a front edge and a rear edge of the stage, with an air gap being present between each pair of consecutive stages. The preparation arrangement further comprises a blower, separate from the main blower, said blower configured to direct air towards at least one of said air gaps, to thereby blow at least a portion of said mixture towards the rear of the combine harvester. The preparation arrangement comprises a plate provided with fins mounted transversally with respect to the longitudinal direction of the harvester, each fin representing one of said preparation stages, the plate further comprising one or more openings between at least one pair of consecutive fins.
FEEDING SYSTEM FOR AN AGRICULTURAL IMPLEMENT
A feeding system for an agricultural implement includes a hopper configured to receive agricultural crop material. An auger extending across the hopper is configured to meter the agricultural crop material from the hopper into a tapered passageway. A movable belt is disposed along one side of the tapered passageway and is configured to urge the agricultural crop material through the tapered passageway toward an outlet of the tapered passageway to form the agricultural crop material into a mat having a thickness substantially equal to a width of the outlet.

A combine harvester including a frame, threshing apparatus, a grain cleaning system, and a feederhouse pivotally mounted to the frame on a transverse lift axis. The feederhouse includes a conveyor for conveying cut crop material from a fore opening to an aft opening. The feederhouse is configured to support a cutting header at its forward end. The grain cleaning system includes a transverse cross-flow fan having a debris screen protecting an air inlet channel. The debris screen is pivotally mounted along a first transverse edge to the frame and along a second transverse edge to the underside of the feederhouse. One of the first transverse edge and second transverse edge is slideably mounted to the frame or feederhouse respectively to permit the feederhouse to be raised and lowered around the lift axis.
Combine with free grain extraction
A combine has a a threshing and separating system to separate grain from crop material and a feeder housing receives crop material from the harvesting head and conveys it to the threshing and separating system. A grain tank has a conveyor for transferring separated grain to the grain tank. The feeder housing has a perforated floor section sufficiently coarse to permit passage of grain to a conveyor beneath the perforated floor section that receives the grain and delivers it to downstream of the threshing and separating system or the separated grain conveyor.
