METHOD FOR DETERMINING AN ACTUAL MASS OF A VEHICLE, CONTROL SYSTEM IMPLEMENTING SUCH A METHOD, AND VEHICLE COMPRISING SUCH A CONTROL SYSTEM
A method for determining an actual mass of a vehicle, includes: determining a reference relationship of a deceleration of the vehicle having a known mass with respect to a brake demand; executing braking with a predetermined brake demand; detecting an actual deceleration of the vehicle when using the predetermined brake demand; determining an actual relationship of the actual deceleration of the vehicle with respect to the predetermined brake demand; and determining the actual mass of the vehicle by correlating the actual relationship and the reference relationship.
Automatic trailer brake gain scaling system and method using hitch forces
Methods and systems automatically scale and set trailer brake gain without a need for vehicle driver input and without testing. Scaling a trailer brake gain of a trailer towed by a vehicle includes obtaining sensor data via one or more sensors of the vehicle, including from a hitch load sensor. A processor computes a trailer resistance force of the trailer based on the sensor data. The processor automatically updates the trailer brake gain based on both the sensor data and the trailer resistance force.
Methods and systems for automatic trailer brake gain scaling
Methods and systems automatically scale and set trailer brake gain without a need for vehicle driver input and without testing. Scaling a trailer brake gain of a trailer towed by a vehicle includes obtaining sensor data via one or more sensors of the vehicle. A processor computes a trailer weight of the trailer and a trailer resistance force of the trailer. The processor automatically updates the trailer brake gain based on both the trailer weight and the trailer resistance force and may use vehicle data and axle torque.
Weight profile determination system
A weight profile determination system may be provided that includes a sensor and a controller. The sensor may be disposed along a route and configured to generate a plurality of force measurements of a vehicle system moving on the route relative to the sensor. The force measurements may be obtained at different times and correspond to different locations along a length of the vehicle system. The controller may determine a weight profile for the vehicle system based on the force measurements generated by the sensor. The weight profile can represent a distribution of weight along the length of the vehicle system. The controller may communicate the weight profile to one or more of the vehicle system or an offboard device for controlling movement of the vehicle system based on the weight profile.
Brake actuator control systems and methods
A brake actuator control system for a vehicle includes: a request module configured to determine a braking request for brake actuators of the vehicle; a front bias module configured to, based on one or more operating parameters, determine a front bias for front ones of the brake actuators associated with front ones of wheels, respectively; a rear bias module configured to, based on the front bias, determine a rear bias for rear ones of the brake actuators associated with rear ones of wheels, respectively; a control module configured to: based on the braking request and the front bias, determine a front braking request; actuate the front ones of the brake actuators based on the front braking request; based on the braking request and the rear bias, determine a rear braking request; and actuate the rear ones of the brake actuators based on the rear braking request.
Communication system to transfer data between vehicles
A communication system to transfer data between a towing vehicle and a towed vehicle including data of selected vehicle control network operating parameters generated in a towed vehicle, through a microcontroller to a remote monitor or display in the towing vehicle to show and alert the status of selected operating parameters of the towed vehicle when in tow.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DETECTING CARGO LOST FROM AN AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE
A method for detecting and reporting cargo lost from an autonomous vehicle. The method includes receiving, from a plurality of sensors, at least one sensor signal representing one or more measurements of the vehicle, determining a mass of the vehicle based on the one or more measurements, estimating a center of mass along a longitudinal axis of the vehicle based on the one or more measurements and the mass, and receiving, from the plurality of sensors, at least one sensor signal representing one or more cargo loss-related conditions. The method also includes identifying one or more cargo loss-indicative conditions based on the center of mass estimation and the one or more cargo loss-related conditions, generating a lost cargo detection signal based on at least one of the one or more cargo loss-indicative conditions and a location of the vehicle, and transmitting the lost cargo detection signal to an external receiver.

Trailer brake control system
Systems and methods are provided for controlling operation of a trailer brake system associated with an agricultural vehicle-trailer combination. Using a driver deceleration demand a pressure level and/or duration for a preliminary pressure peak to be provided in one or more fluid lines of the trailer brake system is determined. A trailer brake signal is generated for controlling the trailer brake system in accordance with the preliminary pressure peak.
