BRAKE CONTROLLER STORING DECELERATION PROFILES AND METHOD USING DECELERATION PROFILES STORED IN A BRAKE CONTROLLER
A brake controller in a vehicle determines braking profiles that may be exercised while operating the vehicle in autonomous or semi-autonomous conditions to decelerate the vehicle based on received commands or that may be exercised automatically in the event of a failure in a communication network of the vehicle or in other systems or components of the vehicle. The braking profiles decelerate the vehicle according to a deceleration profile. The execution of the deceleration profile may be initiated by a single command message received by the brake controller or it may be determined by the brake controller based on vehicle information. A safe state deceleration profile may be preselected by the controlling devices before the occurrence of a failure or an emergency situation, and then executed by the brake controller upon the occurrence of a failure or emergency.
Braking control behaviors for autonomous vehicles
A method and system are provided for controlling braking a vehicle in an autonomous driving mode. For instance, the vehicle is controlled in the autonomous driving mode according to a first braking control mode using a first model to adjust the position of a vehicle relative to an expected position of a current trajectory of the vehicle. Using a second model how close to a maximum deviation threshold the vehicle would come if a maximum braking strength for the vehicle was applied is predicted. The maximum deviation threshold provides an allowed forward deviation from the current trajectory. Based on the prediction, the vehicle is controlled in the autonomous driving mode according to a second braking control mode by automatically applying the maximum braking strength.
Brake system for an articulated vehicle
A brake system for an articulated vehicle is disclosed. The brake system includes a brake assembly coupled to a traction device, the brake assembly being configured to apply a brake-assembly pressure based on one of a hydro-mechanical pressure signal and an electro-mechanical pressure signal. A blocking valve is configured to block the hydro-mechanical pressure signal when closed. A brake controller, is configured to transmit an isolation signal configured to close the blocking valve and transmit an ABS control signal that is based on a commanded ABS brake pressure.
AIRCRAFT BRAKE SYSTEM
A braking system is disclosed. In various embodiments, the braking system includes a brake stack; an actuator configured to apply a compressive load to the brake stack; a servo valve coupled to a power source and to the actuator; and a brake control unit configured to operate the servo valve at a current ramp rate in response to a pedal deflection signal, wherein the current ramp rate is determined via a relationship between the current ramp rate and a brake pressure command signal.
METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE BRAKING OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE
A method for controlling the braking operation of a motor vehicle including at least one electric drive machine, which is switchable into a generator mode effectuating a deceleration of the motor vehicle, as well as a friction braking device having multiple friction brakes, each assigned to a wheel, having brake elements, which are movable toward a brake disc via an actuator. A first braking is performed using the drive machine switched into the generator mode until a first threshold value of the regenerative power or deceleration is reached, after which additionally required braking power is provided by the friction braking device, which is also actuated upon reaching the threshold value.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR NAVIGATING A VEHICLE AMONG ENCROACHING VEHICLES
Systems and methods use cameras to provide autonomous navigation features. In one implementation, a method for navigating a user vehicle may include acquiring, using at least one image capture device, a plurality of images of an area in a vicinity of the user vehicle; determining from the plurality of images a first lane constraint on a first side of the user vehicle and a second lane constraint on a second side of the user vehicle opposite to the first side of the user vehicle; enabling the user vehicle to pass a target vehicle if the target vehicle is determined to be in a lane different from the lane in which the user vehicle is traveling; and causing the user vehicle to abort the pass before completion of the pass, if the target vehicle is determined to be entering the lane in which the user vehicle is traveling.
