System and method of providing recommendations to users of vehicles
A system and method is provided of providing recommendations to a user of a vehicle. In one aspect, the vehicle navigates autonomously and the sensors provide information that is based on the location of the vehicle and output from sensors directed to the environment surrounding the vehicle. In further aspects, both current and previous sensor data is used to make the recommendation, as well as data based on the sensors of other vehicles.
Trailer coupling determination apparatus and trailer coupling determination method
When a brake of a tractor is released, a control unit having a computer built therein monitors the pressure of working fluid output from a trailer control valve that controls a brake of the trailer in conjunction with the brake of the tractor. When time required for a pressure of the working fluid to decrease to a predetermined pressure is a predetermined time or longer, the control unit determines that the trailer is coupled with the tractor. When the time is less than the predetermined time, the control unit determines that the trailer is not coupled with the tractor.
Vehicle control system
A control system for a vehicle having a drive system, the drive system having a forward drive mode, a reverse drive mode, and a neutral mode. The control system may include an operator control operable by the vehicle user to control whether the vehicle is in a drive mode or a neutral mode. The control system may be configured, based on whether the vehicle operator is actively controlling the operator control, to automatically engage/disengage a vehicle brake, detect operator presence or absence and provide neutral lockout for preventing starting of the vehicle engine.

A rear cross traffic avoidance system includes an object detection device sensing remote objects rearward of a host vehicle. An object classifier distinguishes a remote dynamic object from remote static objects. The object classifier identifies a shape of the dynamic object. A tracking system tracks the remote dynamic object. A processor determines the remote object being on an intersecting path to the remote vehicle. The processor determines a warning threat assessment as a function of a time to intersect between the host vehicle and the remote dynamic object. The processor determines a brake threat assessment in response to an actuated warning of a collision. A brake actuation system actuates a braking operation for mitigating the collision.
Method and apparatus for rear cross traffic avoidance
A rear cross traffic avoidance system includes an object detection device sensing remote objects rearward of a host vehicle. Speed sensor device, speed sensor method, electronic control unit and control method
Embodiments relate to a speed sensor device including a sensor element to provide a sensor signal, a status module to provide status information of the speed sensor device; and a processing module to generate an output signal. The output signal is derived from the sensor signal, if the status information is indicative of a non-critical state of the speed sensor device, and the output signal is a safety message signal having signal edges such that time intervals between subsequent congeneric signal edges are equal to or shorter than a preselected threshold, if the status in-formation is indicative of a critical state of the speed sensor device. An Electronic Control Unit (ECU) includes an interface for receiving a signal having signal edges from a speed sensor device and a processing unit to analyze time intervals between subsequent congeneric signal edges. The processing unit is configured to determine a non-critical state of the speed sensor device, if the time intervals are higher than a preselected thresh-old, and to determine a critical state of the speed sensor device, if the time intervals between two subsequent congeneric signal edges are equal to or shorter than the preselected threshold.

Embodiments relate to a speed sensor device including a sensor element to provide a sensor signal, a status module to provide status information of the speed sensor device; and a processing module to generate an output signal. A vehicle brake management device is disclosed. The vehicle brake management device of the present invention: detects, in real time, whether the brake performance of a vehicle in motion is abnormal such that a driver or a mechanic can easily check the abnormality, thereby identifying causes thereof according to a brake failure, and can repair or replace abnormal parts; displays an alert when a brake system malfunctions, particularly when in motion, so as to enable the driver to check the malfunction; and prevents starting so as to disable operations when an engine restarts after the operation has finished, thereby remarkably reducing the risk for the occurrence of an accident and increasing vehicle reliability to consumers.
System and method for collecting fluid sample from machine
A system for collecting a fluid sample from a machine having a fluid module is provided. The system includes a docking station disposed on the machine. The system also includes a pump selectively disposed in fluid communication with the fluid module of the machine. The pump is configured to draw a fluid from the fluid module. The system further includes an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). The UAV is configured to detachably dock onto the docking station. The UAV is also configured to collect the fluid sample from the pump.

The electric brake device includes an electric motor, a brake rotor, a friction pad, a conversion mechanism, a braking force command section, a braking force estimation section, a controller, and a power supply device. The controller includes: a power determination section to determine whether an amount of remaining power that can be supplied from a power supply device to the electric motor has become equal to or less than a determined value; and a residual pressure cancellation section to cancel a residual pressure of a braking force by driving the electric motor in a direction opposite to a brake pressing direction such that an estimated value of the braking force obtained by the braking force estimation section becomes equal to or less than a set value, when the power determination section determines that the amount of remaining power has become equal to or less than the determined value.
