Electrical power conservation during braking for autonomous or assisted driving vehicles
12134376 · 2024-11-05 · ·

This disclosure provides systems and methods for electrical power conservation during braking for autonomous or assisted driving vehicles, such as when electrical currents are continuously supplied to the brake system when the vehicle is temporarily halted at a slope. Braking hysteresis is the relationship between the input (e.g., operating pressure, caused by an electrical motor to increase the fluid pressures in the brake system) and the output (e.g., braking pressure applied by the brake pads on the rotors), in which the change of the output is different during the increase of the input and during the decrease of the input. The present disclosure provides techniques for conserving electrical power consumption by using the brake hysteresis.

Vehicle brake hydraulic pressure control apparatus

A vehicle brake hydraulic pressure control apparatus (control apparatus 100), installed in a vehicle reducing a drive torque when the vehicle is at a halt, that includes vehicle holding control section 113 for performing vehicle holding control by holding a brake hydraulic pressure when the vehicle is at a halt. The vehicle holding control section 113 is configured to release the holding of the brake hydraulic pressure based on the accelerator operation of a driver when the vehicle is at a halt and, in the releasing of the holding of the brake hydraulic pressure, release the holding of the brake hydraulic pressure completely before the drive torque of the vehicle starts increasing.

Brake system

Provided is an engagement position storage device capable of detecting a clutch engagement position of a vehicle finely and a brake system including such a device. In an engagement position storage device 2b that stores an engagement position of a clutch to engage and disengage power of a vehicle, when the vehicle becomes a traveling state in predetermined duration after acceleration in a front-back direction of the vehicle changes, the engagement position storage device 2b stores a clutch engagement position based on a clutch position detected when the acceleration changes. A brake system 1 includes a wheel latching mechanism 5 that latches wheels of a vehicle by driving a propelling member 5a by driving devices 3 and 4; and a controller 2 that controls driving of the propelling member 5a of the wheel latching mechanism 5 based on a clutch engagement position stored in the engagement position storage device 2b.

A method of maintain an automotive smart cruise control system is provided. The system is capable of maintaining a vehicle in a stopped state without requiring an electronic braking system. The vehicle is stopped by a controller when conditions for stopping the vehicle are satisfied based on the driving situation of the vehicle, and the vehicle is maintained in the stopped state by setting the speed of the driving motor to zero.

Stop maintaining system of vehicle

A vehicle stop maintaining system comprises an automatic transmission, an automatic stop-restart mechanism for automatically stopping and restarting an engine, a foot brake mechanism for braking vehicle wheels through hydraulic brake mechanisms, a brake force control mechanism having a pressurizer that increases hydraulic brake pressure applied to the hydraulic brake mechanisms, and for braking the wheels by controlling the pressurizer independently from brake pedal depression, a controller configured to maintain a vehicle stopped state by operating the automatic stop-restart mechanism to stop the engine and operating the brake force control mechanism to keep initial hydraulic brake pressure according to the brake pedal depression, and a drive force state determining module for determining a drive force stabilized timing. The controller operates the automatic stop-restart mechanism to restart the engine and operates the brake force control mechanism to release the initial hydraulic brake pressure when accelerator pedal depression is detected.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING A VEHICLE

A vehicle control system determines an upper non-zero limit on deceleration of a vehicle to prevent rollback of the vehicle down a grade being traveled up on by the vehicle. The upper non-zero limit on deceleration is determined by the controller based on a payload carried by the vehicle, a speed of the vehicle, and a grade of a route being traveled upon by the vehicle. The controller is configured to monitor the deceleration of the vehicle, and to automatically prevent the deceleration of the vehicle from exceeding the upper non-zero limit by controlling one or more of a brake or a motor of the vehicle. The controller also is configured to one or more of actuate the brake or supply current to the motor of the vehicle to prevent rollback of the vehicle while the vehicle is moving up the grade at a non-zero speed.
