LOCALIZED TRAFFIC DATA COLLECTION
A system and method for collecting, processing, storing, or transmitting traffic data. A localized data collection module may retrieve, receive, or intercept traffic data through or from hardware installed in a traffic control cabinet adjacent an intersection or other roadway feature of interest. Data which may have previously been confined to a closed loop traffic control system may be remotely accessible for traffic operations control or monitoring via a network connected server and/or cloud architecture.
HEIGHT CLEARANCE DETECTION FOR A VEHICLE-ATTACHMENT SYSTEM
A method for detecting an obstruction vertical clearance associated with an obstruction positioned in front of a vehicle-attachment system is provided. The vehicle-attachment system includes a vehicle and an attachment. The method includes receiving forward sensor data from a forward sensor system having a forward field-of-view. The method includes determining the obstruction vertical clearance of the obstruction based on the forward sensor data. The method also includes receiving rearward sensor data from a rearward-facing sensor system having a rearward field-of-view. Additionally, the method includes determining a vehicle-attachment system height based on the rearward sensor data. The method includes comparing the obstruction vertical clearance and the vehicle-attachment system height. The method also includes transmitting to a user interface, instructions to notify a driver of the vehicle the result of the comparison between the obstruction vertical clearance and the vehicle-attachment system height.
BRAKE CONTROL DEVICE FOR VEHICLES
This brake control device includes: an operation amount sensor which detects the brake operating member operation amount; front-wheel and rear-wheel actuators which generate braking force in front/rear wheels; front-wheel and rear-wheel sensors which detect the outputs of the front-wheel and rear-wheel actuators; and a controller which controls the front-wheel and rear-wheel actuators based on the operation amount and the outputs of the front and rear wheels. On the basis of the operation amount and/or the output of the rear wheels, the controller determines whether or not a long-term low-load state in which the friction member is continuously pressed against the rotary members of the rear wheels within a predetermined range over a long period of time is established. If so, the distribution ratio of the rear-wheel braking force to the total applied braking force is decreased compared to when a long-term low-load state is not determined to be established.
Managing vehicle brake system
A method for managing a vehicle brake system includes collecting sensor data from one or more sensors in or around the vehicle, calculating brake effectiveness values based on the sensor data, calibrating the brake effectiveness values based on environmental context data associated with the vehicle, accumulating the calibrated brake effectiveness values as a dataset, generating a prediction curve or formula based the dataset, and scheduling a maintenance alarm for the brake system based on the brake effectiveness values.
Method for predictive rollover prevention of a vehicle
A method for preventing a rollover of a vehicle or a tractor-trailer combination in curves, by counteracting a rollover risk of the vehicle by independent regulating interventions, performed without action by a vehicle driver, in a regulation system that actuates the drive and/or the brakes of the vehicle, the method including: capturing the current driving situation and the current load of the vehicle or the tractor-trailer combination as to the current driving position of the vehicle or the tractor-trailer combination, ascertaining a maximum admissible transverse acceleration at the current driving position, at which maximum admissible transverse acceleration the vehicle or the tractor-trailer combination just does not roll over, as to the current driving situation and the current load of the vehicle or the tractor-trailer combination. Also described is a related apparatus for preventing a rollover of a vehicle or a tractor-trailer combination in curves.
Infrastructure to vehicle communication protocol
A system and method for securing and verifying transmitted traffic data. A transmitter may send a transmission via a radio signal including traffic data through or from hardware installed in a traffic control cabinet adjacent an intersection or other roadway feature of interest. The transmission may be signed with a private key. A receiver associated with a vehicle may receive, in addition to the transmission, a public key (e.g., via a data network) for use in verification of the authenticity of the transmission.
Brake fluid life monitoring
According to aspects of the present disclosure, a vehicle includes a braking system, at least one controller, and at least one memory. The braking system includes a brake fluid therein and a brake pedal. The at least one memory stores instructions that, when executed by the at least one controller, are configured to: determine, via a boiling-point module, a boiling point of a brake fluid within a braking system of a vehicle; determine, via a fluidic-properties module, fluidic properties of the brake fluid; determine, via a corrosion-inhibitor module, an amount of corrosion inhibitors within the brake fluid; determine, via a reserve-alkalinity module, a reserve alkalinity of the brake fluid; estimate, a brake-fluid life module, a remaining effective life of the brake fluid using the boiling point, the fluidic properties, the amount of corrosion inhibitors, and the reserve alkalinity; and adjust a response curve of the braking system.
Vehicle brake system
A vehicle brake system, including: a brake operation member to be operated by a driver of a vehicle; a hydraulic brake device provided for one of a front wheel and a rear wheel and configured to generate a hydraulic braking force in accordance with an operation of the brake operation member, the hydraulic braking force depending on a pressure of a working fluid; and an electric brake device provided for the other of the front wheel and the rear wheel and configured to generate an electric braking force in accordance with the operation of the brake operation member, the electric braking force depending on a motion of an electric motor.
