A system and method for securing and verifying transmitted traffic data. A transmitter may send a transmission via a radio signal including traffic data through or from hardware installed in a traffic control cabinet adjacent an intersection or other roadway feature of interest. The transmission may be signed with a private key. A receiver associated with a vehicle may receive, in addition to the transmission, a public key (e.g., via a data network) for use in verification of the authenticity of the transmission.

METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR MONITORING TRAFFIC DATA
20180158329 · 2018-06-07 ·

A system and method for processing traffic data and locally generated data. A traffic signal monitoring device may be associated with a vehicle and configured to receive traffic data from traffic infrastructure devices. The traffic signal monitoring device may additionally or alternatively utilize local data (e.g., speed of the vehicle) to generate alerts to notify a driver of hazardous conditions or to suppress operations (e.g., notifications, menus) of a device to reduce distractions.

METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE DISTRIBUTION OF BRAKING FORCES IN A BRAKING SYSTEM OF A VEHICLE TO REDUCE OR ELIMINATE NOISE AND/OR VIBRATIONS GENERATED IN THE SYSTEM

The invention relates to a method for controlling a braking system of a vehicle for distributing braking forces on at least one first and at least one second pistons of a disc brake caliper of the vehicle. The method is performed by a braking system control system for brake force distribution. The method comprises the steps of: receiving a request for applying a braking force following a braking action applied on a pedal/button of the braking system; receiving a first plurality of parameters associated with the braking system each representative of a current operating condition of the braking system; comparing each received parameter of said first plurality of parameters with a respective critical range for the reference parameters of a second plurality of parameters representative of a critical operating condition of the braking system; if at least one of the parameters of the first plurality of parameters equals the respective reference parameter of the second plurality of parameters, the method comprises the steps of: applying the first braking force to the at least one first piston of the caliper of disc brake, applying a second braking force to the at least one second piston of the caliper of disc brake, wherein the sum of the first and the second braking forces is equal to the requested braking force and a ratio between the first and the second braking forces is different from 1; if each of the parameters of the first plurality of parameters differs from the respective reference parameter of the second plurality of parameters, the method comprises the steps of: applying a third braking force equal to half the requested braking force to both the at least one first and the at least one second pistons of the disc brake caliper.

System and method for feature extraction from real-time vehicle kinetics data for remote tire wear modeling

A system and method are provided for efficiently estimating vehicle tire wear. Vehicle kinetics (first) data are provided via one or more sensors associated with the vehicle and/or at least one associated tire. The vehicle kinetics data are locally processed to compress or otherwise generate second data as a reduced subset thereof, said second data representative of the first data and comprising any one or more predetermined wear-specific features extracted therefrom. The second data are selectively transmitted via a communications network to a remote computing system, which processes the second data to estimate a wear characteristic for the at least one tire. Alternatively, the second data processed to generate third data as a reconstruction of the first data, and the third data and the any one or more extracted features are processed to estimate a wear characteristic for the at least one tire.

BRAKING SYSTEM FOR A RAIL-MOUNTED TRAVELING UNIT OF A TRANSFER VEHICLE

A braking system for a rail-mounted traveling unit of a transfer vehicle. A brake arrangement can be adjusted between a braking position and a venting position and which is designed to exert a settable braking torque in the braking position. A control unit is designed to determine a braking torque and to activate accordingly the brake arrangement. A sensor arrangement detects an operating state of the transfer vehicle and external operating influences and transmits these to the control unit. During operation of the transfer vehicle the sensor arrangement detects the operating state of the transfer vehicle and the external operating influences on the transfer vehicle at periodic intervals and transmits these to the control unit as operating state data and operating influence data. During a braking process, the control unit determines a braking torque to be applied and activates the brake arrangement.
