A monitoring system for a brake assembly of a vehicle may include a temperature sensor disposed proximate to the brake assembly to measure an actual temperature of the brake assembly, a controller operably coupled to the temperature sensor and comprising a thermal model, the controller being configured to determine a predicted temperature of the brake assembly using the thermal model, and a user interface operably coupled to the controller to provide a notification to an operator of the vehicle. The controller may compare the actual temperature to the predicted temperature and may automatically generate the notification responsive to the actual temperature exceeding the predicted temperature by a threshold amount.

Methods and systems for operating a vehicle on a reduced traction surface are disclosed. A controller of the vehicle obtains at least one of: ambient information or GPS information, determines a derate increment size based on the ambient or GPS information, imposes a sustained derate by applying a torque limit on a braking torque of the vehicle based on the derate increment size in response to detecting a traction control event. The controller also determines a verification period and a derate reduction period based on the ambient or GPS information to reduce the sustained derate in response to detecting a lack of traction control event during the verification period at a rate determined by the derate reduction period.

The brake system includes a pedal force detector configured to output a pedal force signal corresponding to pressing of a brake pedal of a vehicle, a pressure detector configured to output a pressure signal corresponding to a pressure of a flow path connected to a wheel cylinder of the vehicle, a motor configured to provide a pressure of a pressurizing medium to the wheel cylinder, and a processor configured to acquire pressure information of the flow path based on the pressure signal of the pressure detector when receiving the pedal force signal of the pedal force detector, acquire a difference value between the pressure of the flow path and a target pressure corresponding to the pedal force signal based on the pressure information of the flow path and pre-stored target pressure information, acquire compensation pressure information based on the pressure information of the flow path and the pre-stored target pressure information when the acquired difference value is greater than or equal to a reference value, and control the motor based on the acquired compensation pressure information.

The control unit is adapted to operate the brake actuator units on the basis of an activation of the acceleration activation unit in the event of a fault or failure of the brake actuation unit.

The method includes determining information describing the state of the at least one friction brake, determining the state of the at least one friction brake from the information, determining whether the state satisfies a specific switching criterion, and, if the self-cleaning operating mode is to be activated according to the switching pattern and the state of the friction brake does not satisfy the switching criterion, suppressing activation of the self-cleaning operating mode and maintaining the normal operating mode.
