Trailer antilock braking system
Techniques of braking a trailer with a trailer braking system. In one example, a controller receives a brake request from a vehicle to apply the trailer braking system, receives a plurality of wheel speed signals from a plurality of wheel speed sensors, and determines a velocity of the trailer based on the plurality of wheel speed signals. The controller determines a wheel speed of one of a plurality of wheels based on one of the plurality of wheel speed signals, compares the velocity of the trailer to the wheel speed to obtain a difference value, and determines that one of the plurality of wheels is unstable when the difference value exceeds a threshold. A braking signal to reduce a braking force on one of the plurality of wheels is generated when one of the plurality of wheels is unstable and when the brake request is received.

FAULT TOLERANT MODUALTED TRAILER BRAKING SYSTEM
A system and method of controlling individual trailer brakes on a towed trailer supporting numerous fault tolerant behaviors including activating each operational brake when a brake is shorted. System operates in multiple modes where it operates with traditional brake controllers, operates in a degraded braking mode without a brake controller and in the preferred mode it retrieves vehicle information from tow vehicle and then communicates with a brake actuator controller over the trailer brake wire. When braking system includes wheel sensors traditional antilock releases are provided and unlike other braking systems this brake actuator controller can maintain wheel speeds below the trailer speed reducing or eliminating periodic wheel releases. System also diagnoses the mechanical operation of the trailer brakes including; identifying when brake adjustment is required, when brake friction surfaces are degrading, as well as diagnosing sensors, braking signals and brake actuator interfaces.
Method for stabilizing a tractor vehicle-trailer combination during travel
A method and device for stabilizing a tractor vehicle-trailer combination during travel, in which tractor vehicle and trailer are connected via at least one pivot joint, including: ascertaining a setpoint buckling angle for a driving-stable setpoint movement of the combination, and/or a setpoint buckling angle velocity for a driving-stable setpoint movement of the combination, between the combination or between two trailers; ascertaining an actual buckling angle for the effective actual movement of the combination, and/or an actual buckling angle velocity for the effective actual movement of the combination, between the tractor vehicle and trailer or between multiple trailers; ascertaining a deviation between the setpoint and actual buckling angles and/or between the setpoint and actual buckling angle velocities, and if the deviation exceeds a threshold value, generating a control signal to activate at least one vehicle component to control movement of the combination in a direction toward a driving-stable movement state.
SYSTEMS, VEHICLES, AND METHODS FOR TRAILER SWAY CONTROL
A system for a vehicle and a trailer connected to the vehicle is provided. The system includes a trailer brake output circuit configured to output a trailer brake output signal, and an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to determine whether a value of a yaw rate of the trailer connected to the vehicle becomes greater than a threshold value, change a yaw rate oscillation counter in response to determining that the value of the yaw rate of the trailer becomes greater than the threshold value, instruct the trailer brake output circuit to output the trailer brake output signal to the trailer in response to the yaw rate oscillation becoming a first value, and activate trailer sway control in response to the yaw rate oscillation becoming a second value. The second value is greater than the first value.
ELECTRONIC BRAKING SYSTEM FOR AN IMPLEMENT
An agricultural implement is provided. The agricultural implement includes a braking system configured to slow or stop the agricultural implement. The agricultural implement also includes a hitch configured to couple the agricultural implement to a towing vehicle. The agricultural implement further includes an electronic sensor disposed on the hitch and configured to sense tension and compression forces. The agricultural implement further includes a controller configured to automatically actuate or disengage the braking system in response to a signal indicating a presence of compression or tension forces from the electronic sensor.
Method for controlling brakes
Disclosed is a method for automatically controlling brakes in a trailer vehicle having antilock control, wherein wheel rotational speeds are continuously monitored and evaluated at wheels having antilock control. According to the method, lateral acceleration and longitudinal acceleration of the trailer vehicle are determined. If a predefined, critical lateral acceleration is exceeded, an automatic braking process occurs. A control unit and trailer vehicle are also disclosed in connection with the inventive method.
BRAKE SYSTEM FOR A TRANSPORTATION VEHICLE, TRANSPORTATION VEHICLE WITH A BRAKE SYSTEM, AND METHOD FOR OPERATING A BRAKE SYSTEM
A brake system for a transportation vehicle, a transportation vehicle having a brake system, and a method for operating a brake system. The brake system has two control units, wherein the respective control unit actuates a respective brake circuit of the brake system, which includes two of four service brakes and one of two electric parking brakes of the brake system. In response to a defect in one of the brake circuits, the control unit of the other brake circuit actuates the respective brakes of the other brake circuit, to carry out trailer combination stabilization of a trailer combination having the transportation vehicle and a trailer coupled to the transportation vehicle; and/or to steer the transportation vehicle in the case of a defect in a steering system of the transportation vehicle based on a steering command of a control device for autonomous driving.
