FAULT TOLERANT MODUALTED TRAILER BRAKING SYSTEM
A system and method of controlling individual trailer brakes on a towed trailer supporting numerous fault tolerant behaviors including activating each operational brake when a brake is shorted. System operates in multiple modes where it operates with traditional brake controllers, operates in a degraded braking mode without a brake controller and in the preferred mode it retrieves vehicle information from tow vehicle and then communicates with a brake actuator controller over the trailer brake wire. When braking system includes wheel sensors traditional antilock releases are provided and unlike other braking systems this brake actuator controller can maintain wheel speeds below the trailer speed reducing or eliminating periodic wheel releases. System also diagnoses the mechanical operation of the trailer brakes including; identifying when brake adjustment is required, when brake friction surfaces are degrading, as well as diagnosing sensors, braking signals and brake actuator interfaces.
Collision prevention apparatus and method, and driving support apparatus
The present embodiments relate to a collision prevention apparatus and method, and a driving support apparatus. The collision prevention apparatus may comprise: a collision risk determiner that determines a collision risk of a vehicle, a driving intervention determiner that determines driving intervention of a driver, and a collision prevention controller that controls a collision risk alert according to a result of determination on a collision risk of the vehicle, and adjusts a braking time point of the vehicle according to a result of determination on driving intervention of the driver.
Electric braking system
Provided is an electric braking system configured to prevent antilock control from being unintentionally ended so that the braking behavior can be stabilized. An antilock control function unit includes an antilock control intervention determination unit configured to determine whether or not to execute antilock control. A braking force control device includes a switching function unit configured to switch between follow-up control by a normal control unit and the antilock control by the antilock control function unit on the basis of the determination by the antilock control intervention determination unit. The antilock control intervention determination unit ends execution of the antilock control when, for example, a braking force under the antilock control becomes equal to or higher than a required braking force while the antilock control is being executed.
TIRE STIFFNESS ESTIMATION AND ROAD FRICTION ESTIMATION
The disclosed invention makes use of slip related values to calculate friction related values and tire stiffness related values and feeds back an estimated tire stiffness relates value or a calculated friction related as a basis for further calculations. In particular, the disclosure relates to methods, apparatuses and computer program products to achieve the mentioned objective.
System and method for detecting stuck valves
A method of conducting a diagnostic procedure for a braking system includes analyzing via an electronic control unit whether only a first input device is engaged or only a second input device is engaged, conducting a first diagnostic test if only the first input device is engaged, and conducting a second diagnostic test if only the second input device is engaged.
Autonomous emergency braking system and method for vehicle at crossroad
An autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system includes a vehicle dynamics sensor and an around-view monitoring (AVM) sensor. The AVM sensor detects a distance and relative speed between the host vehicle and a peripheral object, or transmits an image of a peripheral region of the host vehicle to the ECU. The ECU receives detection signals from the sensors, determines the presence or absence of a moving object approaching in a direction transverse to a traveling direction of the host vehicle at crossroads during driving of the host vehicle, selects the detected moving object as a control object using the detected moving object detection information if the presence of the approaching moving object is determined, and warns a driver of the host vehicle about a high possibility of collision with the selected control object or performs autonomous emergency braking (AEB) of the host vehicle.
BRAKING FORCE CONTROLLER AND VEHICLE
A braking force controller causes a first actuator unit to generate a target jerk when the target jerk is equal to or larger than a first jerk, causes the first actuator unit to generate the first jerk and a second actuator unit to generate a jerk obtained by subtracting the first jerk from the target jerk as an additional jerk when the target jerk is smaller than the first jerk and equal to or larger than the sum of the first jerk and a second jerk, and causes the first actuator unit to generate the first jerk and the second actuator unit to generate the second jerk as the additional jerk when the target jerk is smaller than the sum of the first jerk and the second jerk.
Method of changing ABS control mode by using analysis of driving pattern
A method of changing an anti-lock brake system (ABS) control mode includes: determining, by a controller, whether a first stage of an electronic stability control (ESC) of the vehicle is in an off state and a launch control of the vehicle is in an on state, and determining, by the controller, whether a driver intends to slow down an operation of the ABS installed in the vehicle; and when it is determined that the driver intends to slow down the operation of the ABS, comparing, by the controller, revolutions per minute (RPM) of an engine of the vehicle, a vehicle acceleration speed, a vehicle speed, and a steering angle with predetermined threshold values, respectively, and when each of the comparison results is satisfied, changing, by the controller, an ABS general control mode to an ABS sport control mode which slows down the operation of the ABS.
Method of detecting and correcting the failure of automatic braking system
A failure detection and correction function which is able to detect a failure of an automatic braking system, and provide a corrected action. The failure detection and correction function is independent of the automatic braking function. The failure detection and correction function uses object coordinates and the speed of the vehicle to determine the collision risk, and then calculates a desired deceleration if there is imminent collision. The function uses desired deceleration to compare to a deceleration request from automatic braking function to determine if there is a failure. The failure detection and correction function takes corrected action to avoid the collision if the automatic braking function has failed.
