VEHICLE CONTROL SYSTEM AND METHOD
Embodiments of the present invention provide a vehicle control system comprising a speed control system, the speed control system being configured automatically to attempt to cause a vehicle to operate in accordance with a target speed value by causing a first vehicle speed value determined according to a first predetermined method to become or be maintained substantially equal to the predetermined target speed value at least in part by causing application of positive drive torque to one or more wheels by means of a powertrain, wherein the speed control system is configured to impose a constraint on the amount of driving torque that may be demanded of the powertrain in dependence on the target speed value and a second vehicle speed value determined according to a second predetermined method, said a second predetermined method being based on the mean speed of the driven wheels of the vehicle.

DEVICE AND METHOD FOR STABILIZING A MOTOR VEHICLE
A device for stabilizing a vehicle after a collision against a lateral carriageway boundary, includes a lane recognition system, with which information relating to the course of the lane is determined or detected. A collision detection unit identifies a collision of the vehicle against the lateral lane carriageway boundary on the basis of signals from at least one sensor or on the basis of a driving state variable. The device also includes a steering actuator for steering a steering system and a brake actuator for controlling one or more wheel brakes. A target path determination unit determines a target path for the vehicle on the basis of the course of the lane determined or detected before or at the time of the collision. A controller guides the vehicle onto the target path and/or stabilizes the vehicle via a steering intervention and/or individual wheel brake interventions.

VEHICLE CRUISE CONTROL DEVICE AND CRUISE CONTROL METHOD
A cruise control device 10 is applied to a vehicle in which an imaging device 21 is mounted. The cruise control device 10 includes: a white line recognition unit 11 which recognizes a white line 61 as a lane boundary that defines an own lane 63 that is a travel lane of an own vehicle 50, on the basis of images acquired by the imaging device 21; and a cutting-in/deviation determination unit 12 which performs cutting-in determination and deviation determination, in which the forward vehicle traveling on an adjacent lane 64 is determined to be a cutting-in vehicle that cuts into the own lane, and the forward vehicle traveling on the own lane is determined to be a deviating vehicle that deviates from the own lane on the basis of a relative position with respect to the white line in a vehicle width direction of a forward vehicle 51.
Systems and methods for navigating a vehicle among encroaching vehicles
Systems and methods use cameras to provide autonomous navigation features. In one implementation, a method for navigating a user vehicle may include acquiring, using at least one image capture device, a plurality of images of an area in a vicinity of the user vehicle; determining from the plurality of images a first lane constraint on a first side of the user vehicle and a second lane constraint on a second side of the user vehicle opposite to the first side of the user vehicle; enabling the user vehicle to pass a target vehicle if the target vehicle is determined to be in a lane different from the lane in which the user vehicle is traveling; and causing the user vehicle to abort the pass before completion of the pass, if the target vehicle is determined to be entering the lane in which the user vehicle is traveling.

METHOD OF AUTOMATICALLY CONTROLLING AN AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE BASED ON ELECTRONIC MESSAGES FROM ROADSIDE INFRASTRUCTURE OR OTHER VEHICLES
A method of operating a vehicle, such as an autonomous vehicle, includes the steps of receiving a message from roadside infrastructure via an electronic receiver and providing, by a computer system in communication with said electronic receiver, instructions based on the message to automatically implement countermeasure behavior by a vehicle system. Additionally or alternatively, the method may include the steps of receiving a message from another vehicle via an electronic receiver and providing, by a computer system in communication with said electronic receiver, instructions based on the message to automatically implement countermeasure behavior by a vehicle system.

Dynamically modifying collision avoidance response procedure in autonomous vehicles
A computer-implemented method for controlling a vehicle comprises: receiving tracking data associated with a surrounding environment of the vehicle; detecting, based upon the tracking data, an object in the surrounding environment of the vehicle; determining a location of the object; determining, based on navigation assistance data, whether the location of the object is at least partially within a classified area in the surrounding environment; and configuring a control system of the vehicle to: initiate, based upon determining that the location of the object is not at least partially within the classified area, a first collision avoidance response procedure for responding to the object; and initiate, based upon determining that the location of the object is at least partially within the classified area, a second collision avoidance response procedure for responding to the object, the second collision avoidance response procedure different from the first collision avoidance response procedure.
