SYSTEM AND METHODS FOR IMPROVING FUEL ECONOMY
Methods and systems are provided for controlling engine operation in a hybrid vehicle, where the vehicle engine comprises one or more cylinders dedicated to recirculating exhaust to the intake manifold. In one example, if an engine load decreases below a level where dedicated exhaust gas recirculation may lead to combustion stability issues, engine load may be increased above the demanded load and the excess power used to charge a system battery, or if the battery state of charge is above a threshold, the engine may be shut down and the vehicle propelled via battery power. In this way, fuel economy and combustion stability issues may be improved, NOx emissions reduced, and costs for implementation of dedicated exhaust gas recirculation decreased.

Hybrid vehicle with power boost
A hybrid vehicle includes at least one axle, an energy storage device disposed within the hybrid vehicle, a fuel consuming engine, a power boosting feature, and a controller. The fuel consuming engine is operably connected to selectively provide power to at least one of the energy storage device and the at least one axle. The engine is capable of providing at least the mean but less than a peak power to drive the hybrid vehicle over a typical route. The power boosting feature is configured to provide the fuel consuming engine with additional power to achieve a desired power to accelerate the hybrid vehicle. The controller is adapted to selectively control power flow to the one or more axles from one or more of the energy storage device, the engine, and the power boosting feature to achieve the desired power.

Control system for a plug-in hybrid vehicle
A control system for a plug-in hybrid vehicle has a drive system having a starter motor, a transverse engine, and a motor/generator, and also has a power supply system having a high voltage battery; a capacitor; and a hybrid control module that controls charge and discharge of the capacitor. In the control system for an FF plug-in hybrid vehicle in which external charging of the high voltage battery is available, the hybrid control module starts the starter, performs a mode selection control and a charge/discharge control, maintains the capacitor voltage equal to or higher than a voltage that allows the starter to start-up when a CD mode is selected at the time of ignition ON, and maintains a capacitor voltage equal to or less than a voltage at which deterioration does not proceed at the time of ignition ON with the CS being selected.

Self-propelling work machine and method for braking such a work machine
The application describes a self-propelling work machine, in the form of a truck, having an electric drive comprising at least one electric motor, a generator drivable by an internal combustion engine for the power supply of the electric drive, and a braking apparatus for braking the work machine, wherein the braking apparatus provides a regenerative braking by the electric drive and a feedback apparatus for feeding back electrical motor braking power of the electric motor to the generator to apply the motor braking power on the internal combustion engine. The application further describes a method for braking the work machine. A braking control apparatus is provided for an automatic connection of a mechanical brake in dependence on the motor braking power fed back to the internal combustion engine and/or in dependence on the operating state of the internal combustion engine acted on by the fed back motor braking power.
