HYBRID ALL-WHEEL-DRIVE VEHICLE

A hybrid all-wheel-drive vehicle includes an engine, first and second motor generators, a first clutch between the second motor generator and a front wheel, a second clutch between the second motor generator and a rear wheel, and a control unit that controls, based on a vehicle traveling state, the engine, the motor generators, and the clutches. The first motor generator is coupled to the engine and the front wheel in a manner capable of transmitting torque. During regeneration, the control unit engages the first clutch and disengages the second clutch. When the all-wheel-drive vehicle shifts from motor traveling to hybrid traveling, the control unit restarts the engine by operating the first motor generator and regulates engagement forces of the clutches and output torque of the second motor generator to compensate driving torque of the front wheel by the second motor generator while maintaining driving torque of the rear wheel.

Electrical power control method

Systems and methods are described for electrical power control of a hybrid vehicle. A change in an electrical load of an ancillary component of the vehicle is determined. In response to determining the change in the electrical load of the ancillary component, an electrical load of an electrically heated catalyst of the vehicle is adjusted.

Selectable one-way clutches with notch plate inserts for engine disconnect devices of motor vehicle powertrains

Presented are clutch-type engine disconnect devices, methods for making/using such disconnect devices, and motor vehicles equipped with such disconnect devices. An engine disconnect device includes a notch plate, which has multiple notches and attaches to a torque converter, and a pocket plate, which has multiple pockets and attaches to an engine's crankshaft. A pawl is movably mounted within each notch; these pawls selectively engage the notches with the pockets. A notch plate insert is nested within each notch, supporting thereon one of the pawls. A selector plate interposed between the pocket and notch plates moves from a first position, to shift the pawls out of engagement with the pockets, and a second position, to move the notch plate inserts within the notches and allow the pawls to engage the notches with the pockets to thereby lock the notch plate to the pocket plate to rotate in unison with each other.

Control device of hybrid vehicle

A control device of a hybrid vehicle includes a pressing torque applying portion configured to control the first rotating machine to output a pressing torque acting in a predetermined backlash elimination direction in backlash elimination in which one of tooth surfaces of meshing gears is pressed against the other at a meshing portion during motor running, so that the pressing torque is applied on the electric transmission mechanism. When an electrical angle of the first rotating machine is within a predetermined electrical angle range in which a cogging torque of the first rotating machine generated in accordance with rotation of the first rotating machine is equal to or greater than a predetermined torque required for the backlash elimination in the predetermined backlash elimination direction, the pressing torque applying portion makes the pressing torque smaller as compared to when the electrical angle is outside the predetermined electrical angle range.
