Operating a motor vehicle with an advanced motor restart out of the engine-off coasting mode
Various embodiments include a method for controlling a motor vehicle having an internal combustion engine with a crankshaft and a drivetrain separable from the internal combustion engine using a releasable clutch comprising: propelling the vehicle in a first operating state in a predetermined range around a speed while the internal combustion engine is off and is separated from the drivetrain by the releasable clutch; sensing a braking operation while in the first operating state; predicting whether a power demand is expected within a predetermined time interval; and, if the power demand is expected, setting the crankshaft of the internal combustion engine in rotation, or increasing a rotational speed of the crankshaft in preparation for an engine restart.
Control apparatus for hybrid vehicle
A controller as a control apparatus for a hybrid vehicle determines whether or not to perform switching from a first traveling mode in which a hybrid vehicle is caused to travel using torque of a motor without using torque of an engine to a second traveling mode in which the hybrid vehicle is caused to travel using at least the torque of the engine. The controller, when determining that switching is to be performed from the first traveling mode to the second traveling mode, performs control to reduce output torque of the motor by a predetermined amount. After this control, the controller shifts a first clutch from a released state to an engaged state so that the torque of the motor is transmitted to the engine via the first clutch, and cranks the engine using the motor to start the engine.
ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT, INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD, AND NON-TRANSITORY STORAGE MEDIUM
An electronic control unit configured to be supplied with electric power from a battery in a vehicle includes a controller. The controller is configured to accumulate the operating time of the electronic control unit under a condition where a switch of a drive source of the vehicle is in an OFF state. The controller is configured to reset the electronic control unit when the elapsed time from a start point of accumulation of the operating time is less than a predetermined elapsed time, at a point in time when the cumulative operating time obtained by accumulating the operating time reaches a predetermined cumulative time.

Vehicle control device
A vehicle control device controls a hybrid vehicle including: an internal combustion engine having an EGR device; an electric drive device that drives the vehicle and performs an engine-based power generation; a power storage device; and a travel route acquisition device. The vehicle include an EV drive mode and an HV drive mode. The vehicle control device is configured to: where the vehicle is started under a cold condition, calculate, based on the travel route information, an average vehicle driving power in a vehicle running section under a warm condition after the start; and limit the amount of power generated by the engine-based power generation in the cold condition to be smaller when the calculated average vehicle driving power is high than when it is low, and, during the HV drive mode after a transition to the warm condition, execute the engine-based power generation accompanied by the EGR.

ADVANCED CONTROL FRAMEWORK FOR AUTOMOTIVE SYSTEMS
Advanced vehicle control systems are disclosed. Within a vehicle system having several subsystem controllers dedicated to separate tasks in the vehicle, the subsystem controllers may use supplied control parameters. In this context, a centralized optimization unit is configured to receive prediction data, determine, within a prediction horizon, a modification to at least one supplied control parameter using the prediction data; and communicate the modification to the at least one supplied control parameter to at least one subsystem control unit.

Intelligent engine activation planner
A system includes a battery, an engine, and a processor. The processor is configured to plan, according to a model, an activation action of the engine of a vehicle for a next road segment subsequent to a current road segment; and activate, for the next road segment, the engine according to the activation action. The model includes a state space that includes a navigation map, which includes the current road segment of the vehicle, a current charge level of the battery, and whether the engine is currently on or off. The activation action is selected from a set comprising a first action to turn on the engine to charge the battery and a second action to turn off the engine.
Hybrid vehicle
A hybrid vehicle includes an engine, a first motor generator, a first clutch, a second clutch, a second motor generator, a power storage device, and an electronic control unit configured to control the engine, the first motor generator, the second motor generator, the first clutch, and the second clutch. The electronic control unit is configured to engage the first clutch and disengage the second clutch such that the first motor generator generates power using power from the engine and the hybrid vehicle runs using power from the second motor generator, when a vehicle speed is equal to or lower than a predetermined vehicle speed.
