DEVICE AND METHOD FOR STABILIZING A MOTOR VEHICLE
A device for stabilizing a vehicle after a collision against a lateral carriageway boundary, includes a lane recognition system, with which information relating to the course of the lane is determined or detected. A collision detection unit identifies a collision of the vehicle against the lateral lane carriageway boundary on the basis of signals from at least one sensor or on the basis of a driving state variable. The device also includes a steering actuator for steering a steering system and a brake actuator for controlling one or more wheel brakes. A target path determination unit determines a target path for the vehicle on the basis of the course of the lane determined or detected before or at the time of the collision. A controller guides the vehicle onto the target path and/or stabilizes the vehicle via a steering intervention and/or individual wheel brake interventions.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING AN AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE
Aspects of the disclosure relate generally to controlling an autonomous vehicle in a variety of unique circumstances. These include adapting control strategies of the vehicle based on discrepancies between map data and sensor data obtained by the vehicle. These further include adapting position and routing strategies for the vehicle based on changes in the environment and traffic conditions. Other aspects of the disclosure relate to using vehicular sensor data to update hazard information on a centralized map database. Other aspects of the disclosure relate to using sensors independent of the vehicle to compensate for blind spots in the field of view of the vehicular sensors. Other aspects of the disclosure involve communication with other vehicles to indicate that the autonomous vehicle is not under human control, or to give signals to other vehicles about the intended behavior of the autonomous vehicle.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PERFORMING AN ENGINE STOP AND START FOR A ROLLING VEHICLE
Methods and systems for improving operation of a vehicle driveline that includes an engine and an automatic transmission with a torque converter are presented. In one non-limiting example, the engine may be stopped while a vehicle in which the engine operates is rolling. A transmission coupled to the engine may be shifted as the vehicle rolls so that vehicle response may be improved if a driver requests an increase of engine torque.
CONTROL DEVICE OF VEHICLE
A control device of a vehicle comprises: a driving plan generating part 90 configured to generate a driving plan in automated driving of the host vehicle; a package extracting part 91 configured to extract driving assistance packages packaging permissions for a plurality of driving assistance operations based on at least one of the surrounding environment information, the vehicle information, and the driver information; a package proposing part 92 configured to propose driving assistance packages to the driver of the host vehicle based on the driving assistance packages extracted by the package extracting part and the driving plan; and an automated driving executing part 93 configured to perform driving assistance operations permitted in a driving assistance package proposed by the package proposing part and approved by the driver of the host vehicle.
ELECTRIC PROPULSION SYSTEM FOR A VEHICLE
A vehicle provided with an electric propulsion system and a method for controlling the electric propulsion system are provided. The system includes a first Electrical Motor (EM1) connected via first Electrical Connections (EC1) to an on-board Energy Storage System (ESS1) and drivingly connected to wheels. The system further includes a second Electrical Motor (EM2) connected via second Electrical Connections (EC2) to one or several electrical energy sources and drivingly connected to wheels. The system is controlled by an Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and the Electrical Motors (EM1, EM2) are used in dependence of the State Of Charge (SOC) level in the first Energy Storage System (ESS1) and the availability of electrical energy for the second Electrical Motor (EM2). The ECU is programmed to include an energy transfer mode in which the use of the second Electric Motor (EM2) for propulsive force is increased and the use of the first Electric Motor (EM1) for regenerative breaking is increased when the State Of Charge (SOC) level in the first electrical Energy Storage System (ESS1) is below a defined level and it is estimated that there is more electrical energy available for the second Electrical Motor (EM2) than for the first Electrical Motor (EM1).
METHOD FOR OPERATING A CONTROL DEVICE OF A MOTOR VEHICLE
A method for operating a control device of a motor vehicle driving by automation. The method includes determining a location of the motor vehicle, and acquiring driving-environment data of the motor vehicle, a control characteristic of the control device of the motor vehicle being formed in such a way that a driving behavior of at least one other road user is influenced in defined manner.
Prime mover RPM limiting control
A side-by-side off-road utility vehicle comprising a vehicle operational status switch for controlling the operational status of the vehicle, a side-by-side seating structure, a plurality of safety restraint devices operable to retain one or more vehicle passenger in the side-by-side seating structure, and a prime mover RPM controller. The prime mover RPM controller operable to output commands to the one or more prime mover of the vehicle to limit a rotational speed of the prime mover(s) when the vehicle is in an On operational status and a selected one or more of the one or more safety restraints is in a disengaged status.
Systems and methods for navigating a vehicle among encroaching vehicles
Systems and methods use cameras to provide autonomous navigation features. In one implementation, a method for navigating a user vehicle may include acquiring, using at least one image capture device, a plurality of images of an area in a vicinity of the user vehicle; determining from the plurality of images a first lane constraint on a first side of the user vehicle and a second lane constraint on a second side of the user vehicle opposite to the first side of the user vehicle; enabling the user vehicle to pass a target vehicle if the target vehicle is determined to be in a lane different from the lane in which the user vehicle is traveling; and causing the user vehicle to abort the pass before completion of the pass, if the target vehicle is determined to be entering the lane in which the user vehicle is traveling.
METHOD OF AUTOMATICALLY CONTROLLING AN AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE BASED ON ELECTRONIC MESSAGES FROM ROADSIDE INFRASTRUCTURE OR OTHER VEHICLES
A method of operating a vehicle, such as an autonomous vehicle, includes the steps of receiving a message from roadside infrastructure via an electronic receiver and providing, by a computer system in communication with said electronic receiver, instructions based on the message to automatically implement countermeasure behavior by a vehicle system. Additionally or alternatively, the method may include the steps of receiving a message from another vehicle via an electronic receiver and providing, by a computer system in communication with said electronic receiver, instructions based on the message to automatically implement countermeasure behavior by a vehicle system.
