An electronic control unit (ECU) includes a processor that processes sensor data captured by the sensors. The vehicular control system, responsive at least in part to processing at the ECU of captured sensor data as the vehicle travels in a traffic lane of a road, detects another vehicle that is rearward of the equipped vehicle and traveling along an adjacent traffic lane. The vehicular control system detects a leading vehicle ahead of the equipped vehicle and traveling in the same traffic lane as the equipped vehicle. The vehicular control system, responsive to determination of a space along the other traffic lane ahead of the detected other vehicle, controls the equipped vehicle to maneuver into the adjacent traffic lane to pass the detected leading vehicle ahead of the detected other vehicle.

A vehicle control apparatus includes a condition determining unit, a mode switching controller, and a notification controller. The condition determining unit is configured to determine whether enabling conditions set to enable a switching control to an engine stop mode are satisfied. The engine stop mode stops an engine of a vehicle in a driving state. The mode switching controller is configured to perform the switching control to the engine stop mode in response to that the condition determining unit determines that the enabling conditions are satisfied. The notification controller is configured to compare a measured time value and a threshold both related to the enabling condition which the condition determining unit determines as not being satisfied. The notification controller is configured to perform, in response to that the measured time value exceeds the threshold, a control of making notification that the switching control is in a disabled state.

Speed planning guidance line for mild slow down
11567506 · 2023-01-31 · ·

A method, apparatus, and system for planning a deceleration trajectory based on a natural deceleration profile for an autonomous driving vehicle (ADV) is disclosed. In one embodiment, in response to a request for driving in a natural deceleration mode, a current speed of the ADV is determined. A speed guideline is generated based on a predetermined natural deceleration profile associated with the ADV in view of the current speed of the ADV. A speed planning operation is performed by optimizing a total cost function based on the speed guideline to determine speeds of a plurality of trajectory points along a trajectory planned to drive the ADV. A number of control commands are generated based on the speed planning operation to control the ADV with the planned speeds along the trajectory, such that the ADV naturally slows down according to the predetermined natural deceleration profile.

Methods and apparatus for automated speed selection and retarder application in downhill driving of an autonomous tractor trailer
11565699 · 2023-01-31 · ·

A method includes detecting, via a processor of an autonomous vehicle, an upcoming downhill road segment of a route on which the autonomous vehicle is currently travelling. The detection is based on map data, camera data, and/or inertial measurement unit (IMU) data. In response to detecting the upcoming downhill road segment, a descent plan is generated for the autonomous vehicle. The descent plan includes a speed profile and a brake usage plan. The brake usage plan specifies a non-zero amount of retarder usage and an amount of foundation brake usage for a predefined time period. The method also includes autonomously controlling the autonomous vehicle, based on the descent plan, while the autonomous vehicle descends the downhill road segment.

AUTOMATICALLY CONTROLLING A DRIVEN AXLE OF A MOTOR VEHICLE

Controlling an actual slip of at least one driven axle of a motor vehicle with at least one axle having at least one wheel and a one drive unit for providing a drive torque for the axle and for the wheel can be carried out by a control device for controlling the drive unit. The control device can be configured for establishing a first actual speed of the motor vehicle; establishing a second actual speed of the at least one wheel; calculating a target speed of the at least one wheel for the established first actual speed taking into account parameters; determining an actual slip of the at least one wheel with respect to a substrate on which the motor vehicle is being moved; when the actual slip exceeds a defined first limit slip, generating a limit torque by which the drive torque produced by the drive unit is adjusted.

CRUISE CONTROL METHOD AND SYSTEM, AND VEHICLE

A cruise control method and system, and a vehicle, the method being applied to a first vehicle. When the first vehicle is driving in a first lane, before the first vehicle enters from the first lane into a preset recognition region to thereby complete vehicle identity recognition in the preset recognition region, the cut-in probability of a second vehicle cutting into the first lane can be predicted according to a movement parameter of the second vehicle that is in an adjacent second lane, and it is determined, according to the cut-in probability and the stopping time of the first vehicle, whether to brake to stop the first vehicle; therefore, during the process of controlling the first vehicle to pass through the preset recognition region, the driver is not required to temporarily take over control of the first vehicle.
