A hybrid vehicle includes an engine, a motor, a power storage device connected to the motor, and an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit executes power storage capacity decreasing control in a current trip and executes power storage capacity recovering control in a next trip when parking at a predetermined point is predicted. The electronic control unit limits execution of the power storage capacity decreasing control in the current trip when heavy-load traveling with a load heavier than a predetermined load is predicted to be performed within a predetermined period after the start of the next trip when the next trip is started at a predetermined point.
Method of operating a vehicle and a vehicle
A method of operating a vehicle having an engine, a throttle valve and a throttle operator. A continuously variable transmission operatively connected to the engine has a driving pulley, a driven pulley, and a belt operatively connecting therebetween. A ground engaging member is operatively connected to the driven pulley. A piston is operatively connected to the driving pulley for applying a piston force thereto and thereby changing an effective diameter of the driving pulley. A control unit controls actuation of the piston and the piston force. The method includes determining at least one of the throttle operator and throttle valve position, detecting a parking/drive away condition indicative of one of a parking operation and a drive-away operation of the vehicle, and, responsive to the detection, actuating the piston and controlling the piston force based on the at least one of the throttle operator position and the throttle valve position.
HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING SAME
A system for controlling a hybrid propulsion system includes a computer programmed to obtain altitude and terrain information associated with a predetermined route for the hybrid propulsion system comprising a first energy source and a second energy source. The computer is also programmed to obtain current and forecast ambient weather information associated with the predetermined route of the hybrid propulsion system, determine a power requirement and a torque requirement of the hybrid propulsion system associated with the altitude and the terrain along the predetermined route of the hybrid propulsion system, generate a trip plan to optimize at least one of a plurality of performance parameters of the hybrid propulsion system as the hybrid propulsion system travels along the predetermined route, and preferentially select the first energy source and/or the second energy source based on the trip plan.

A method of operating a vehicle having an engine, a throttle valve and a throttle operator. A method for obtaining reference signals for vehicle control systems, in function of a vehicle geographical position along a travel route, includes providing data relating to the vehicle and data relating to a route to travel, and determining a vehicle driving force reference signal and a vehicle speed reference signal through a first optimisation process configured to optimise the driving force along the travel route. An engaged gear reference signal, in function of the positions of the vehicle along the travel route, is determined through a second optimisation process configured to optimise fuel consumption of the vehicle along the travel route. The second optimisation process is subsequent to the first optimisation process, and the data relating to the travel route, as well as the driving force reference signal and the speed reference signal, is received as input, determined through the first optimisation process.

A speed planning device is disclosed. The speed planning device may perform a method including obtaining elevation information associated with a route for a vehicle; identifying a section of the route based on the elevation information, wherein the section is associated with a change in elevation; determining subsections of the section; determining respective slopes of the subsections and respective lengths of the subsections; obtaining information identifying a mass associated with the vehicle; generating a speed plan for the vehicle to traverse the section, wherein the speed plan indicates one or more speeds at which the vehicle is to correspondingly traverse the subsections based on the respective slopes of the subsections, the respective lengths of the subsections, and the mass associated with the vehicle; and providing the speed plan to permit the vehicle to be controlled to traverse the section according to the one or more speeds of the speed plan.

In some examples, a controller receives information of a route of a vehicle, and selects a first parameter set from among a plurality of parameter sets based on the route of the vehicle, the plurality of parameter sets corresponding to different conditions of usage of the vehicle, where each parameter set of the plurality of parameter sets includes one or more parameters that control adjustment of one or more respective adjustable elements of the vehicle. The controller causes application of the first parameter set to control a setting of the one or more adjustable elements of the vehicle.

A method for controlling at least a first vehicle sensor includes receiving sensor data generated by one or more vehicle sensors that are configured to sense an environment through which the vehicle is moving, and identifying, based on the received sensor data, one or more current and/or predicted positions of one or more dynamic objects that are currently moving, or are capable of movement, within the environment. The method also includes causing, based on the current and/or predicted positions of the dynamic objects, an area of focus of the first sensor to be adjusted, at least by causing (i) a field of regard of the first sensor, and/or (ii) a spatial distribution of scan lines produced by the first sensor, to be adjusted.

In some examples, a controller receives measurement data from a sensor on a vehicle, determines, based on the measurement data, a condition of usage of the vehicle, and selects a parameter set from among a plurality of parameter sets based on the determined condition of usage of the vehicle, the plurality of parameter sets corresponding to different conditions of usage of the vehicle, where each parameter set of the plurality of parameter sets includes one or more parameters that control adjustment of one or more respective adjustable elements of the vehicle. The controller causes application of the selected parameter set on the vehicle.
