METHODS TO ENHANCE POWERTRAIN SYSTEMS EQUIPPED WITH TURBOCHARGER OR REGENERATIVE BRAKING SYSTEM
A host vehicle includes an internal combustion engine, a turbocharger in fluid communication with the internal combustion engine, a communication system configured to transmit and receive a traffic-related message, and a controller in communication with the turbocharger and the communication system. The controller is programmed to: receive the traffic-related message via the communication system; and command the internal combustion engine to increase a power output to spool up the turbocharger in response to receiving the traffic-related message. The controller is programmed to determine a number of relevant vehicles. The number of relevant vehicles is a number of vehicles that are in front of the host vehicle and behind a traffic light and affect a movement of the host vehicle toward the traffic light. The traffic-related message is a one of a vehicle message from another vehicle and/or a traffic-light message from the traffic light.
SPEED PLANNING DEVICE FOR A VEHICLE
A speed planning device is disclosed. The speed planning device may perform a method including obtaining elevation information associated with a route for a vehicle; identifying a section of the route based on the elevation information, wherein the section is associated with a change in elevation; determining subsections of the section; determining respective slopes of the subsections and respective lengths of the subsections; obtaining information identifying a mass associated with the vehicle; generating a speed plan for the vehicle to traverse the section, wherein the speed plan indicates one or more speeds at which the vehicle is to correspondingly traverse the subsections based on the respective slopes of the subsections, the respective lengths of the subsections, and the mass associated with the vehicle; and providing the speed plan to permit the vehicle to be controlled to traverse the section according to the one or more speeds of the speed plan.
Vehicle with capacitor discharge control
A vehicle includes an engine, a rotating electric machine, a high-voltage power line, a high-voltage battery, an inverter, a capacitor, an electronic control unit, a low-voltage battery, an alternator, and a low-voltage power line. The capacitor is connected to the high-voltage power line. The electronic control unit is configured to control the engine such that the engine is operated and the alternator supplies electric power to the low-voltage power line in a case where the possibility of the occurrence of a collision of the vehicle is detected. The electronic control unit is configured to perform control such that the capacitor discharges a residual electric charge in a case where the possibility of the occurrence of the collision of the vehicle is detected or in a case where the occurrence of the collision of the vehicle is detected.
CONTROL DEVICE OF VEHICLE
A control device of a vehicle includes a power source and a power transmission device, and comprises: a state determining portion determining whether a vehicle state is a state in which a running performance of the vehicle is limited; a drive torque calculating portion calculating a drive torque as a maximum drive torque which the vehicle outputs based on the vehicle state; a remaining running distance calculating portion calculating a remaining distance as a maximum distance for which the vehicle travels based on the vehicle state; a destination setting portion setting a destination of the vehicle based on the drive torque and the remaining distance; and a driving control portion providing an automatic driving control in which acceleration/deceleration and steering are automatically performed based on the destination when it is determined that the vehicle is in a state in which the running performance thereof is limited.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR VEHICLE CONTROL
Methods and systems are provided for mitigating reverse vehicle rollback. In one example, in response to a request to shift a transmission from reverse to forward when vehicle speed is elevated, vehicle brakes are applied and the actual transmission shift is delayed until the vehicle motion in the reverse direction is sufficiently decelerated. Additionally, the engine may be stalled and restarted before the transmission shift is performed.
METHODS AND SYSTEM FOR DISCONNECTING AN AXLE
Methods and systems are provided for operating a vehicle that may be propelled via a primary axle and a secondary axle. In one example, a propulsion source of a secondary axle may be decoupled from at least one wheel via a dog clutch that includes teeth. The dog clutch may be disengaged in a way that reduces driveline noise and may reduce a possibility of driveline degradation.
AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE INTENT SIGNALING
Various technologies described herein pertain to controlling an autonomous vehicle to provide indicators that signal a driving intent of the autonomous vehicle. The autonomous vehicle includes a plurality of sensor systems that generate a plurality of sensor signals, a notification system, and a computing system. The computing system determines that the autonomous vehicle is to execute a maneuver that will cause the autonomous vehicle to traverse a portion of a driving environment of the autonomous vehicle. The computing system predicts that a person in the driving environment is to traverse the portion of the driving environment based upon the plurality of sensor signals. The computing system then controls the notification system to output a first indicator indicating that the autonomous vehicle plans to yield to the person or a second indicator indicating that the autonomous vehicle plans to execute the maneuver prior to the person traversing the portion of the driving environment.
HYBRID VEHICLE
A hybrid vehicle includes: an internal combustion engine; an electric motor; a controller; a transmission including an input shaft that receives power inputted from the internal combustion engine and the electric motor and an output shaft that outputs power to a drive wheel; and a clutch disposed in a first power transmission route between the internal combustion engine and the input shaft. The electric motor is connected to the input shaft so as to transmit power to the input shaft through a second power transmission route different from the first power transmission route. The controller changes the manner of controlling the electric motor upon switching of the state of power transmission from the internal combustion engine and the electric motor.
Vehicle including traveling motor
When a braking request is made while a SOC recovery switch is turned off, regeneration driving of a rear wheel motor is prohibited. In this case, a front wheel motor, the rear wheel motor, and an oil hydraulic brake device are controlled such that requested braking torque is exerted on a vehicle with regenerative driving of the front wheel motor and without regenerative driving of the rear wheel motor. When the braking request is made while the SOC recovery switch is turned on, the regeneration driving of the rear wheel motor is permitted. In this case, the front wheel motor, the rear wheel motor, and the oil hydraulic brake device are controlled such that the requested braking torque is exerted on the vehicle with regenerative driving of the front wheel motor and the rear wheel motor.
Systems and methods for identifying a stuck open exhaust gas recirculation valve
Methods and systems are provided for determining whether an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve is degraded and being held open in a vehicle system. In one example, a method may include, in response to an engine pull-down request, closing a throttle coupled to an intake manifold of the engine, closing the EGR valve, propelling the vehicle via an electric motor, and checking operation of the EGR valve based on both intake manifold pressure and exhaust pressure. For example, if the intake manifold pressure does not decrease by a threshold amount relative to the exhaust pressure, EGR valve degradation may be indicated.
