TRAILER TOWING ASSISTANT FOR TIGHT SPOT REVERSAL
A method of controlling a vehicle-trailer unit includes recording, with an electronic control unit for a trailer assist system, a plurality of maneuvers of the vehicle-trailer unit as each maneuver is executed in an original direction of travel. The method also includes retrieving the recorded plurality of maneuvers in response to an initiating of a tight spot reversal feature for the trailer assist system. The method further includes instructing vehicle systems to perform the retrieved recorded plurality of maneuvers in the reverse order and direction of travel in which they were recorded.
ROAD VEHICLE CONVOY CONTROL METHOD, AND ROAD VEHICLE CONVOY
A road vehicle convoy control method includes applying, on a hinge, a moment, an amplitude of which varies based on measured oscillations to absorb the measured oscillations. The moment is applied on the hinge by controlling an actuator of the hinge and jointly controlling: an electrical machine of a first wheel from a wheel set that belongs to part of a chassis that pivot in relation to another wheel because of the hinge to increase torque of the first wheel; and, simultaneously, an electrical machine of a second wheel from the same wheel set to keep the torque thereof constant or increase the torque of the second wheel less than the torque of the first wheel to apply the moment on the hinge in combination with the actuator.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR COLLISION MITIGATION DURING MACHINE ARTICULATION
A system and method for mitigating collisions for an articulated work vehicle is disclosed. The system includes a controller configured to determine a safe-zone around the articulated work vehicle based on signals corresponding to sensed objects around the articulated work vehicle. The controller is further configured to determine a position and velocity of one or more peripheral points on the articulated work vehicle based on signals from a set of sensor systems operatively coupled to the articulated work vehicle. The controller is further configured to receive a driver control input. The controller is further configured to apply a limit to the driver control input when a peripheral point on the articulated work vehicle is expected to be within a predetermined distance to a nearest edge of the safe-zone.
METHOD FOR STABILIZING A TRACTOR VEHICLE-TRAILER COMBINATION DURING TRAVEL
A method and device for stabilizing a tractor vehicle-trailer combination during travel, in which tractor vehicle and trailer are connected via at least one pivot joint, including: ascertaining a setpoint buckling angle for a driving-stable setpoint movement of the combination, and/or a setpoint buckling angle velocity for a driving-stable setpoint movement of the combination, between the combination or between two trailers; ascertaining an actual buckling angle for the effective actual movement of the combination, and/or an actual buckling angle velocity for the effective actual movement of the combination, between the tractor vehicle and trailer or between multiple trailers; ascertaining a deviation between the setpoint and actual buckling angles and/or between the setpoint and actual buckling angle velocities, and if the deviation exceeds a threshold value, generating a control signal to activate at least one vehicle component to control movement of the combination in a direction toward a driving-stable movement state.
System And Method For Control Of A Towed Trailer
A vehicle includes a steering input device having a nominal setting, a sensor configured to detect a presence of a trailer towed by the vehicle, and a controller in electronic communication with the steering input device and the sensor. The controller is configured to communicate with a towed trailer. The controller is programmed to, in response to the sensor detecting a presence of a towed trailer and the steering input device being within a predetermined range of the nominal setting, automatically communicate a braking command to the towed trailer to maintain a nominal articulation angle between the trailer and the vehicle.
TRAILER LANE DEPARTURE WARNING AND SWAY ALERT
A trailer-detection system includes a radar sensor, an angle detector, a camera, and a controller. The radar sensor is used to determine a range and an azimuth angle of a radar signal reflected by a trailer towed by a host-vehicle. The angle-detector is used to determine a trailer angle relative to the host vehicle of the trailer towed by the host vehicle. The camera is used to detect a lane marking of a roadway traveled by the host vehicle and trailer. The controller is in communication with the radar sensor, the angle detector, and the camera. The controller is configured to determine when the trailer is departing from a travel lane of the roadway based on the radar signal, the trailer angle, and the lane marking.
Vehicle trailer control
A computer includes a processor and a memory, and the memory stores instructions executable by the processor to, in response to a vehicle towing a trailer being in reverse, determine a relative orientation of the trailer to the vehicle; while the vehicle is in reverse, in response to the relative orientation exceeding a threshold, brake the vehicle; and then, upon receiving an operator input, permit the vehicle to travel in reverse with the relative orientation exceeding the threshold.
JACKKNIFING SUPPRESSION DEVICE, JACKKNIFING SUPPRESSION METHOD, AND NON-TRANSITORY COMPUTER-READABLE MEDIUM
A jackknife suppression device is configured to execute an acquisition process, a prediction process, a determination process, and a treatment process. The acquisition process is a process of acquiring a hitch angle variable and a steered angle variable. The prediction process is a process of calculating a predicted value of the hitch angle using the hitch angle variable and the steered angle variable as inputs. The determination process is a process of determining whether there is a high risk that a jackknife occurs using the predicted value and the steered angle variable as inputs. The treatment process is a process of operating predetermined hardware in order to suppress occurrence of the jackknife when it is determined that the risk is high.
Trailer backup assist system with target management
A trailer backup assist system is provided herein. A camera captures images of a trailer connected to a vehicle. A display has a screen for displaying captured images and registering a touch event thereon to assign a target on the imaged trailer. A controller processes the captured images and tracks the target to determine a hitch angle between the vehicle and the trailer while the vehicle is automatically steered during a trailer backup maneuver.
Differential control user interface for reversing vehicle and trailer system
A disclosed method of maneuvering a vehicle-trailer unit in reverse travel with a backing system includes, among other things, determining that the vehicle-trailer unit is backing up with an electronic control unit for the backing system. A current hitch angle is determined, which represents the relative angle between the vehicle and the trailer with the electronic control unit. A requested hitch angle rate of change versus distance traveled is calculated with the electronic control unit, wherein the requested hitch angle rate of change is based upon an input which provides a requested hitch angle rate of change signal value. A steering angle is calculated with the electronic control unit based upon the requested hitch angle rate of change, wherein the steering angle will allow movement of the vehicle-trailer unit in the reverse direction to obtain the requested hitch angle rate of change; and a request is sent to a steering system to provide the steering angle.
