Composite battery enclosure

A battery enclosure for a vehicle chassis having a base member with raised surface features on the upper surface outlining individual cells, each cell configured to receive at least one battery; a cover member having a plurality of depending surface features on the lower surface which are aligned with the surface features of the base member. The cover member includes a channel formed in the upper surface thereof, aligned with and extending along a length of the depending surface feature disposed on the bottom surface. A lattice support structure is also included which has a plurality of support members extending axially and transversely, wherein the lattice support structure is configured to be at least partially disposed within the channel of the cover member and mounted to the vehicle chassis. The lattice support member providing increased rigidity and a load distribution path for externally applied forces (e.g. crash events) to prevent or inhibit enclosure breakage or puncture.

The battery pack includes a first battery accessory, a second battery accessory, and an electrical wiring. The first battery accessory is arranged inside a front tunnel portion of the floor tunnel from below. The second battery accessory is arranged inside a rear tunnel portion of the floor tunnel from below. The electrical wiring extends in a front-rear direction of a vehicle body across right and left second floor cross members, and connects the first battery accessory and the second battery accessory.

LIGHTWEIGHT BATTERY BOX FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLES

A battery box for an electric vehicle includes an Al casting that extends between and joins to a BIW or chassis rails of the electric vehicle. The Al casting includes a bottom wall, a side wall with a pair of rails that are securely attached to the BIW or chassis rails of the vehicle, and a plurality of cross members. The bottom wall, the side wall, and the plurality of cross members define a structural enclosure with a plurality of battery compartments and at least one crush zone, and the structural enclosure is load bearing member of the electric vehicle.

Electric vehicle having low-voltage component in rear portion of vehicle body

An electric vehicle may include a body; a low-voltage component disposed in a rear portion of the body; and at least one coupling member securing the low-voltage component to a plurality of securing portions of the body. The plurality of securing portions may include at least one first securing portion located forward of the low-voltage component in a vehicle front-rear direction and at least one second securing portion located rearward of the low-voltage component in the vehicle front-rear direction. A center of the at least one first securing portion and a center of the at least one second securing portion are located at different positions from each other in a vehicle vertical direction.

Vehicle frame

A vehicle frame for a hybrid or electric vehicle includes a pair of longitudinally-extending side rails being positioned in spaced relation across a width direction of the vehicle frame to define a battery space therebetween. A side impact absorber is positioned on a first one of the pair of longitudinally-extending side rails. A first member of the side impact absorber is secured to an outboard sidewall of the first side rail to define a first impact energy-absorbing load path to the first side rail. The first member has a wave-form shape and extends laterally outward from the outboard sidewall to an outboard end of the side impact absorber. A second member of the side impact absorber is secured to the outboard sidewall of the first side rail, further from a height-wise center thereof, the second member defining a second impact energy-absorbing load path from the outboard end of the side impact absorber to the first side rail.

A vehicle battery pack support device for a battery pack mounted below a pair of side rails extending in a vehicle longitudinal direction and has a pair of side faces each facing in the longitudinal direction, includes a battery bracket for housing the battery pack and a frame bracket for coupling the side rails and the battery bracket. The battery bracket includes a first bracket covering the side faces of the battery pack, at least a portion of a top face that is continuous with the side faces, and at least a portion of a bottom face that is continuous with the side faces, the first bracket having a dimension in the vehicle width direction which is equal to or larger than the long side of the battery pack and a second bracket covering an end portion of the first bracket in the width direction coupled to the frame bracket.

An embodiment floor structure of a vehicle includes a pair of side seals disposed to face each other in a vehicle width direction, and respectively disposed in a vehicle length direction, a floor frame disposed between the pair of side seals and including a pair of longitudinal frames respectively arranged along the pair of side seals and at least one transverse frame mounted between the pair of longitudinal frames in the vehicle width direction, and at least one core structural member disposed in a space provided by the floor frame and including a material for absorbing impact.

A subframe assembly for a vehicle utilizing straight, parallel extruded longitudinal siderail members. This subframe assembly provides front-end (or rear-end) crash energy absorbance by plastically deforming, crumpling, and bending down to avoid the stackup and occupant cabin intrusion of components, such as the attached engine/motor, engine/motor mounts, steering components, and suspension components. The laterally disposed longitudinal siderail members each provide a straight, substantially uninterrupted lower load path to transfer crash energy from the lower load path crash management system beam and crashboxes or the like to a rear upper load path body in white bracket, and ultimately to the battery frame in the event of a crash, with the siderail members and crashboxes optionally being longitudinally coaxially aligned.

A vehicle front portion structure includes: a dash panel separating a power unit compartment provided at a lower portion of a vehicle front portion from a cabin; a partition wall having a lower end portion secured to a vehicle rear end portion of the dash panel and extending in a vehicle upward direction to divide the cabin into a front portion and a rear portion; a front portion vehicle seat disposed on the dash panel; a seat support member supporting the front portion vehicle seat from a vehicle lower side and having a front end portion secured to the dash panel and a rear end portion secured to the partition wall; and an autonomous driving unit, at least part of the autonomous driving unit being disposed in an area surrounded by the dash panel, the partition wall, and the seat support member.
