The parallel shaft gear includes an input shaft, which is coupled to the electric motor section, an input gear, at least one intermediate shaft including input-side and output-side intermediate gears, an output shaft, which is coupled to the wheel bearing section, and a final output gear. The input, intermediate, and output shafts are supported by rolling bearings to be rotatable. At least two rolling bearings configured to support the intermediate and output shafts on an out-board side and two rolling bearings configured to support the intermediate and output shafts on an in-board side are arranged at positions at which respective bearing widths are prevented from being superimposed with each other in an axial direction.

An electric wheel assembly with an integrated hub motor includes a tire, a rim, a hub, a planetary reducer, an inner rotor motor, a braking system and a steering knuckle assembly. The inner rotor motor is provided in the rim, and its rotor is hollow and fitted over a motor rotor holder. An end of the motor rotor holder is mounted with a sun gear to transmit power to the planetary reducer, and the other end thereof is mounted with a brake disc. The planetary reducer employs a two-stage planet gear. The planetary reducer further includes a planet carrier integrated with the hub, serving as the reducer's power output end. The hub and the knuckle sleeve pass through the hollow motor rotor holder, and hub bearings are arranged thereamong. The inner rotor motor and the planetary reducer can employ an integrated direct oil cooling technology.

Further included is a gear arrangement operatively coupled to the electric motor, the gear arrangement driving rotation of the leadscrew. Yet further included is a nut threaded to the leadscrew, rotation of the leadscrew actuating linear motion of the nut relative to the leadscrew, the nut operatively coupled to a moveable portion of the steering column assembly to actuate motion of the moveable portion. Also included is a leadscrew housing, the leadscrew extending axially through the leadscrew housing. Further included is a helical bushing disposed between a radially inner surface of the leadscrew housing and a radially outer surface of the leadscrew.

At least one of the two or more electric motors is a permanent-magnet synchronous motor, an asynchronous motor or a switched reluctance motor, and of different efficiency maps. The system can improve the power density and system efficiency of propulsion system while maintaining high performance output, to enhance the integration level, and reduce size, weight and cost.
