Mechanically attached thermal protection system

A mechanically attached thermal protection system (MATPS) includes an insulating tile having a top surface, a bottom surface, and a plurality of access holes that extend through the insulating tile from the top surface to the bottom surface. A plurality of brackets include a first end attached to the insulating tile and a second end including a mounting hole therethrough, the second end being positioned proximate the bottom surface of the insulating tile. A plurality of fasteners are positioned proximate the bottom surface of the insulating tile and at least partially positioned within one of the access holes so as to be accessible from the top surface of the insulating tile through one of the plurality of access holes. A MATPS including a plurality of air channels within the insulating tile and a method for sealing these air channels to those within an adjacent structure is also described herein.

A battery module includes a plurality of battery cells each configured to store an electric charge and a busbar interconnecting the plurality of battery cells. Each battery cell has a first end surface including a positive terminal, a second end surface, and a perimeter surface including a negative terminal. The busbar has a layered structure including a plurality of parallel-extending layers. The layers include a first conductive layer positioned on the first end surface and contacting each of the positive terminals of the plurality of battery cells, a second conductive layer positioned between the first and second end surfaces and contacting each of the negative terminals of the plurality of battery cells, and at least one isolating layer positioned between the first conductive layer and the second conductive layer. The at least one isolating layers holds the battery cells in position in at least a lateral direction.

Protection of vehicle engine fuel components

Vehicle engine systems and protectors for such systems are presented. The protector can include a first end that is operatively connected to an intake manifold of the engine system. The protector can include a second end positioned between a fuel component of the engine system and a vehicle firewall. The protector can include one or more hooks that extend from an outer surface of the protector near the second end. The hooks are configured to engage the vehicle firewall during an impact collision. In one or more arrangements, the hooks can be configured to pierce through the vehicle firewall during the impact collision.

The first protective wall and the second protective wall are disposed outside the fuel pump assembled to an internal combustion engine. A standing surface of the second protective wall on a side opposite to a second base end surface in a standing direction of the second protective wall includes a curved surface that is concave on the second base end surface side and that becomes closer to the second base end surface side as the curved surface becomes farther from the first protective wall.
