The present invention relates to a conveying device for conveying objects, in particular workpieces. Here, it is provided for the conveying device to comprise one or more stations to which the objects are transportable by means of vehicles, and/or at which the objects are dischargeable and/or receivable.
RAIL CONVEYOR SYSTEMS
A rail conveyor system may include carriages with multiple cradles that are configured to support a carry belt. The carriages may be supported by and may travel along guide rails that extend along a longitudinal path. The guide rails may be supported by discrete frame modules that are longitudinally spaced apart. The frame modules may include at least slidable frame modules that are slidably attached to footings and expansion frame modules that include expansion gaps that permit the guide rails to thermally expand and contract longitudinally. The carriage may also include an anti-derailment device that greatly minimizes the risk of derailment.

Rail vehicle (2) for moving in two perpendicular horizontal directions on a rail system (108), the rail system comprising a first set of parallel rails (110) in a first direction (X) and a second set of parallel rails (111) in a second direction (Y) being perpendicular to the first direction (X), the rail vehicle comprising a vehicle frame (3); rail engaging supports (4); and a plurality of wheel modules (5) configured to move the vehicle on the rail system; wherein each wheel module (5) comprises a wheel (6) with a horizontal axis of rotation, the wheel module allowing the wheel to pivot 90 degrees around a vertical axis such that the rotational direction of the wheel may be switched between the first direction (X) and the second direction (Y); the wheel modules (5) and the rail engaging supports (4) are vertically moveable relative to each other between a first position and a second position so to engage and disengage the wheels from the rails.

High throughput transportation system with seamless carriage switching between tracks along the vertical plane
The present invention relates to the field of automated transportation systems. Particularly, it relates to a transportation system comprising guide-ways or tracks, vehicle units [100, 100a] with wheel-axle assembly for switching of vehicles from primary [20] to secondary track [22] on changing trajectory to maintain same vertical plane and the method. It comprises of central controller [101], vehicle chassis with main wheels [2W], guide wheels [4iw, 4ow], guide blocks [05, 06], actuator [09]. The chassis [30] has set of contractible axles fixed to wheels [2W] to enables movement from primary [20] to secondary track [22] by withdrawing the wheels [2W] from expanded position [C] to contracted position [C] or vice-versa. The forces required to compress the spring loaded axle axis is derived from inner guide wheels rolling over the edge flange [26] when swung using single linear motor actuator [09] and related electronic controls.

Service vehicle with a vehicle pen
A service vehicle operates on a rail system of a storage and retrieval grid. The service vehicle is configured for retrieving a remotely operated vehicle for service. The service vehicle includes a first vehicle area in which the remotely operated vehicle can be received by the service vehicle while the remotely operated vehicle is still on the rail system, and a second vehicle area in which the remotely operated vehicle can be supported by the service vehicle for servicing. The first vehicle area is configured as a vehicle pen for holding the remotely operated vehicle before entry to the second vehicle area. The first vehicle area is linked to the second vehicle area for passage of the remotely operated vehicle via the vehicle pen. The vehicle pen includes an entry barrier to regulate entry of the remotely operated vehicle into the service vehicle and the vehicle pen, and an exit barrier on exit from the vehicle pen into the second vehicle area to regulate the passage of the remotely operated vehicle through the first vehicle area and into the second vehicle area.
