An air intake system is disclosed. The air intake system may have an air box. The air box may be configured to receive air from an ambient. The air intake system may also have a filter assembly disposed within the air box. The filter assembly may be configured to clean the air. In addition, the air intake system may have a duct. The duct may have a first duct end configured to receive the air exiting the filter assembly. The duct may also have a second duct end configured to deliver the air to the engine. The second duct end may be located at a gravitationally higher position than the first duct end.

An air intake system is disclosed. The air intake system may have an air box. The air box may be configured to receive air from an ambient. The air intake system may also have a filter assembly disposed within the air box. The filter assembly may be configured to clean the air. In addition, the air intake system may have a duct. Various embodiments for an exhaust gas treatment device for a vehicle system are provided. In one example, the vehicle system includes an engine with a longitudinal axis, where a crankshaft of the engine is parallel to the longitudinal axis and an exhaust gas treatment device mounted on the engine, vertically above the engine such that a longitudinal axis of the exhaust gas treatment device is aligned in parallel with the longitudinal axis of the engine, the exhaust gas treatment device configured to receive exhaust gas from an exhaust manifold of the engine.
DEVICE, METHOD, AND SYSTEM FOR EMISSIONS CONTROL
Various embodiments for an exhaust gas treatment device for a vehicle system are provided. In one example, the vehicle system includes an engine with a longitudinal axis, where a crankshaft of the engine is parallel to the longitudinal axis and an exhaust gas treatment device mounted on the engine, vertically above the engine such that a longitudinal axis of the exhaust gas treatment device is aligned in parallel with the longitudinal axis of the engine, the exhaust gas treatment device configured to receive exhaust gas from an exhaust manifold of the engine.
EXHAUST ENCLOSURE AND THERMAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Thermal management is provided. An exhaust enclosure is configured to receive a combustion gas from a combustion engine. The exhaust enclosure is enclosed from an environment by a plurality of enclosure walls extending from an exhaust portion of an exhaust vent. The exhaust enclosure includes skirting walls extending from a compartment portion of the exhaust vent, and open to the environment along a surface opposite from the exhaust vent. The environment is fluidly coupled with the compartment portion of the exhaust vent.

The apparatus can include: a housing having an elongate length and a height that is relatively smaller than the elongate length; a mixing tube configured to receive the exhaust flow of the diesel engine, wherein the mixing tube is positioned within the housing and extends longitudinally along at least a portion of the elongate length of the housing; a first plurality of treatment units in fluid communication with the exhaust flow from the mixing tube, wherein catalysts of the first plurality of treatment units are configured to treat the exhaust flow; and a door forming part of a roof of the locomotive, wherein the door is openable to provide access to at least some of the first plurality of treatment units.

Apparatus, systems and methods including an apparatus for aftertreatment of exhaust flow from a diesel engine of a locomotive are shown and described. The apparatus can include: a housing having an elongate length and a height that is relatively smaller than the elongate length; a mixing tube configured to receive the exhaust flow of the diesel engine, wherein the mixing tube is positioned within the housing and extends longitudinally along at least a portion of the elongate length of the housing; a first plurality of treatment units in fluid communication with the exhaust flow from the mixing tube, wherein catalysts of the first plurality of treatment units are configured to treat the exhaust flow; and a door forming part of a roof of the locomotive, wherein the door is openable to provide access to at least some of the first plurality of treatment units.
