Scan gantry for medical imaging system

The present invention provides a scan gantry for a medical imaging system. The scan gantry comprises a bottom supporting frame and a tilt supporting frame that are connected to each other, wherein the tilt supporting frame is tiltable relative to the bottom supporting frame. The scan gantry further comprises a locking mechanism connected between the bottom supporting frame and the tilt supporting frame. In the process that the tilt supporting frame is being tilted relative to the bottom supporting frame, the locking mechanism is in an unlocked state; and when the tilt supporting frame is stationary relative to the bottom supporting frame, the locking mechanism is in a locked state to prevent the tilt supporting frame from moving relative to the bottom supporting frame.

A portable X-ray system includes an X-ray scanner coupled to a module for processing and visualization of digital signals; and foldable intake and output trays configured to pass an object in and out of the scanner module. The foldable intake and output trays are articulated approximately in their middle. A first drum extends substantially across an entire opening of the scanner tunnel and configured to press down on the object and pull the object inside a scanner tunnel. A second drum extends substantially across an entire opening of the scanner tunnel and configured to press down on the object and pull the object from the scanner tunnel. A radiation shield covers an opening of the scanner tunnel. Sensors detects a type of object to be scanned and to control the first drum according to the type of object to be pulled inside the scanner tunnel.

An amount of radiation exposure of a medical staff is significantly reduced, and a large working area is ensured during an operation. The radiation protection equipment is provided, which can be installed within a short time period before an operation and easily put away after the operation. The radiation protection equipment, includes: a first protection sheet arranged on a periphery of a radiation source device and configured to shield radiation; a second protection sheet formed separately from the first protection sheet, arranged on a side of an operation table, and configured to shield radiation; and a third protection sheet formed separately from the first and second protection sheets, arranged on a periphery of a surgical field so as to expose the surgical field, and configured to shield the radiation.

The present invention provides a positioning system comprising at least a portable detector that enables users to continuously know the spatial location of a detector relative to an x-ray source so that it can be more easily aligned, and monitored for maintenance of alignment, with the portable detector within predetermined tolerances during procedures. In preferred embodiments, the invention further comprises a radiation interlock switch to prevent the emission of radiation in the event of the x-ray source and detector not being aligned within a predetermine tolerance.
