A railroad car door lock which eliminates the need for lubrication and which includes a bracket, a first base attached to the bracket, a second base attached to the bracket, aligned first and second apertures in the first and second bases for slidably receiving a locking pin, a replaceable first locking pin wear protector lockably insertable in and selectively removable from the first base to prevent contact between the locking pin and the inner edge of the first base which defines the first aperture, and a replaceable second locking pin wear protector lockably insertable in and selectively removable from the second base to prevent contact between the locking pin and the inner edge of the second base which defines the second aperture.

Railroad car and end door assembly therefor

A gondola car has a door and an associated door frame the end. The door hangs hingedly from the header of the frame. The header runs across the top of the door opening and is connected to the top chords at either side. The door posts are positioned inside the side sheets and tie into the header at each upper corner. The side sheets lap onto the door posts to allow longitudinal adjustment of the side assemblies and the door frame relative to each other, at assembly. The side posts are connected to the header with a tie plate that is bolted to both members. The car may also have a tarp dome at each end. The tarp dome has non-welded connections that have play to permit the tarp dome to accommodate movement of the top chords.

Door assemblies for railroad cars are disclosed. In some embodiments, the door assemblies include a base having a central portion and a perimeter portion surrounding the central portion. The central portion is in a plane different from the perimeter portion. The door assemblies additionally include a perimeter gasket attached to the perimeter portion and surrounding the central portion. The door assemblies further include a first end wall member having a first portion that is attached to the perimeter portion and a second portion that is attached to the central portion. The door assemblies additionally include a second end wall member having a third portion that is attached to the perimeter portion and a fourth portion that is attached to the central portion. The perimeter portion is disposed between the second or fourth portion and the perimeter gasket. The first and second end wall members are each distinct from the base.

In some embodiments, the door assemblies include a generally planar base, a liner spaced from the rear surface of the base. The liner includes a central portion and a perimeter portion surrounding the central portion. The door assemblies additionally include a perimeter gasket attached to the perimeter portion and surrounding the central portion. The door assemblies further include first and second end wall members. The base, the liner, and the first and second end wall members define an interior compartment therebetween. The door assemblies additionally include insulation disposed within the interior compartment, wherein the first and second end wall members are shaped such that insulation is disposed within one or more planes that are perpendicular to the base and to the perimeter portion of the liner and that include a portion of the perimeter gasket.
