A fall control system is described. The fall control system comprises an elongate guide rail extending along an axis, one or more than one trolley for moving along the elongate guide rail, a tether attached to the trolley at a first end, a second end of the tether for attaching to a user, and a speed control system for controlling a speed of the trolley along the elongate guide rail. The speed control system comprises one or more than one speed control track attached to the elongate guide rail and extending along the axis, a background speed controller coupled to the trolley and engaged with the one or more speed control track when the speed control system or the trolley is in a travelling orientation and controlling the speed of the trolley along the elongate guide rail to not exceeded a maximum walking speed.

ZIPLINE BRAKING SYSTEM WITH PASSIVE BRAKING TROLLEY

For braking a zip line trolley, a wheel rides on the zip line cable. An array of toothed slots is disposed downslope from the wheel. A slope adjustment pin is fixed downward into a first toothed slot. At least one selection tab connects the slope adjustment pin to a rider. A brake pad is disposed downslope from the slope adjustment pin. The weight of the rider rotates the brake pad about the wheel to apply a braking force.

Vehicular accident prevention

A method and system enabling a process for preventing a vehicular accident is provided. The method includes continuously monitoring vehicular impact conditions associated with a vehicle in motion. In response, an imminent impact event associated with the vehicle in motion and an external object is detected and a surface of a roadway below the vehicle in motion is scanned by sensors of the vehicle. Results of the scanning indicate that the roadway surface is safe for deployment of a destructive friction based braking mechanism of the vehicle. The destructive friction based braking mechanism is deployed with respect to a first braking force threshold and it is determined if rate of speed decrease exceeds a specified speed decrease threshold.

Coaster and trolley system and method

A rail coaster operates as a cross between a roller coaster and a zip line. A rail may be suspended under a frame by flexible cables or solid brackets. The rail may turn, incline, decline, or twist, but need not twist to still provide a rolling degree of freedom for a rider. An eddy current brake provides proportional braking as a function of speed. A cam-adjustment-axle (eccentric) carries certain wheels to provide finely divided, discrete, but incrementally small adjustments of idler wheel clearances to accommodate variations in the rail, wheel wear, and onsite adjustment of tolerances for curvature, unevenness, and friction. A static universal bracket provides adjustment in four degrees of freedom, three of translation and one of rotation in securing a rail to a supporting frame.
