LOCKED-AXLE SPRING COMPRESSION SYSTEM AND METHOD

A locked-axle spring compression system and method configured to raise a rail vehicle wheel off a rail and transport the raised wheel along a rail is presented. In one embodiment, the present disclosure discloses a system that can raise the locked-axle rail wheel off the rail and allowing the locked-axle train to be transported off the main line. One or more coil springs can be disposed between the truck frame and the journal box to distribute the weight of the train and forces acting thereon. The present disclosure provides a technological solution missing from conventional systems by at least providing a platform for an actuator configured to exert a force on one or more train elements to compress the coil springs and allow the locked-axle wheel to be raised off a surface (e.g., railroad track rail), by overcoming the coil spring pressure to raise the wheel off the rail.

Various embodiments of an autonomous rail vehicle that can travel ahead of a locomotive at a distance proportional to the locomotive's stopping capability are disclosed. The rail vehicle may scan its surroundings, gauges track conditions, and communicates with locomotive operators of the scanned results in real-time to timely enable activation of the locomotive's emergency brakes in case of detection of off-normal track conditions. The rail vehicle may paired with the locomotive and provides eyes to locomotive operators so that they can have information on tracks viability well ahead of the locomotive.

Lifting system for rerailing a rail vehicle

A lifting system for rerailing a rail vehicle is particularly suited for rerailing a locomotive. The lifting system has a support profile of an undercarriage structure of the rail vehicle as a lifting point for a rerailing device, the profile support running transversely to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle on a front end of the rail vehicle. It further has a gripping element, which can be lifted and lowered by the lifting device, including two hook-shaped gripping brackets, the hooked profile thereof corresponding to the support profile. The gripping brackets for lifting and lowering the rail vehicle by gripping under the support profile can thereby be symmetrically engaged at the vehicle longitudinal center plane. By this means, a lifting system for rerailing a rail vehicle is provided, in which a frontal lifting device positionable in front of the rail vehicle can be used.

A motor drive assembly for selective rail or track operation of an excavators or other mobile platform via a source of hydraulic pressure. The motor drive assembly may include one or more drive arm assemblies mounted at ends of the mobile platform underbody, with the drive arm assembly including a motor, a gearbox, and hydraulic features for operation, including a counterbalance valve assembly, as well as improved gearbox and coupler elements operable therewith. The counterbalance valve assembly may include a cross-port relief valve and may have a first hydraulic operating circuit and a second hydraulic operating circuit. The first hydraulic operating circuit may communicate hydraulic pressure to the gearbox to enable movement of the mobile platform, and the second hydraulic operating circuit may prevent undesired communication of hydraulic pressure to the gearbox.

There is described a hi-rail device for mounting on a vehicle, comprising a linkage between an axle assembly for holding wheels and a mounting assembly. The linkage, pivotally connected to an upper pivot connection thereof, is foldable and unfoldable to translate the axle assembly relative to the upper pivot connection. An active suspension between the linkage and the mounting assembly is provided and comprises a suspension body to swivel about the mounting assembly, actuated by a spring proximally urging on the suspension body to provide the swivel. The suspension body comprising the upper connection to the linkage, which can move along with the suspension body to provide active suspension. Also, a locking pin, extending through the linkage, can be locked in a slot using a hydraulic cylinder, distinct from a hydraulic cylinder for deployment, and which comprises a spring for default locking not involving hydraulic power.
