System for controlling vital wayside devices of a railway network, and vital switch for such vital devices
A system for controlling one or more vital wayside devices of a railway network, comprising one or more vital switches, each vital switch being comprised in or operatively connected to an associated device of the one or more vital wayside devices, and a controller which is configured to control the one or more vital wayside devices. The controller is connected to each of the one or more vital switches by means of at least one optical fiber cable and is configured to output one or more light command signals over the at least one optical fiber cable, and each vital switch is configured to switch from an open status to a closed status to provide power and ground to the associated vital wayside device upon receiving at least one corresponding light command signal outputted by the controller for commanding an action of the associated vital wayside device.

System and method for track occupancy determination
A method and a system determine a subsequent number of guided vehicles occupying a track section of a railway network. The system has a trackside device configured for controlling and managing a movement authority of a guided vehicle for a track section and at least one neighboring trackside device. Each neighboring trackside device is configured for controlling and managing a movement authority for a directly neighboring track section. The trackside device is configured for calculating the subsequent number of guided vehicles from a number of guided vehicles occupying the track section previously determined by the trackside device and information received from each neighboring trackside device regarding a number of guided vehicles entering, from the track section. The directly neighboring track section is controlled by the neighboring trackside device and a number of guided vehicles leaving the directly neighboring track section for the track section.

Railroad virtual track block system
A method of railroad track control includes partitioning a physical track block into a plurality of virtual track blocks, the physical track block defined by first and second insulated joints disposed at corresponding first and second ends of a length of railroad track. The presence of an electrical circuit discontinuity in one of the plurality of virtual track blocks; is detected and in response a corresponding virtual track block position code indicating the presence of the discontinuity in the one of the plurality of virtual track blocks is generated.

TRAFFIC COMMUNICATION SYSTEM, BASE STATION, VEHICLE, MOBILE STATION, AND MESSAGE TRANSMISSION METHOD
A roadside unit 40 that controls a traffic safety apparatus provided at a railroad crossing 150 at which a general road 120 on which a vehicle 20 travels and a railroad track 110 on which a railroad vehicle 10 given priority over the vehicle 20 travels intersect receives a first message from the railroad vehicle 10. The first message includes an information element indicating a railroad vehicle as a type of a transmission source vehicle, and an information element indicating at least one of a position of the railroad vehicle 10 or speed of the railroad vehicle 10. In the roadside unit 40, a communicator transmits a second message to the vehicle 20. The second message includes an information element related to waiting time for passing of the railroad vehicle 10 through the railroad crossing 150.

Charging system for electric vehicles
A charging system for an electric vehicle has an elongate enclosure having a plurality of sides and an at least partially open side. The enclosure defines a hollow interior. The charging system further includes a conductor rail disposed in the hollow interior and that is accessible through the at least partially open side of the enclosure. The conductor rail may be placed in electric communication with an electrical power source and thereby may be selectively placed in electrical communication with an electrical connector of an electric vehicle. The charging system may conduct electric current from the electrical power source to an electric power supply of the electric vehicle.
