POINT SWITCH, AND RAILWAY NETWORK COMPRISING AT LEAST ONE POINT SWITCH OF SAID TYPE

A point switch is designed such that the point plates (1, 2) of the point switch which support the track (11, 12) are placed vertically on top of one another and that the position of the points is set by vertically moving the point plates.

A switching machine comprises a frame, a point detector bar, an indication contact assembly, at least one detector bar follower able to act on the indication contact assembly depending on the position of the point detector bar relatively to the frame, an inhibiting element jointly movable with the detector bar follower, and a cam bar translatable relatively to the frame between an unlock position and a lock position. The cam bar comprises a tongue portion which is able to be in contact with a stop of the inhibiting element when the cam bar is in its unlock position and to be away from the stop when the cam bar is in its lock position. The inhibiting element comprises a main body relatively to which the stop is vertically translatable between an active position and a passive position.

Monorail Switch Using a Gravity-Assisted Actuating Mechanism

A monorail switch for a monorail guideway comprises a moveable guide beam having lateral running surfaces and an actuating mechanism. The actuating mechanism, equipped with a counterweight, is operative to move the moveable guide beam from a tangent position, where the moveable guide beam is aligned with a tangent travelling direction, to a turnout position, where the moveable guide beam is aligned with a diverting direction. Potential energy stored in the counterweight is released and at least partially stored in the form of elastic potential energy in the lateral running surfaces when the moveable guide beam is moved from the tangent position to the turnout position. Similarly, the elastic potential energy stored in the lateral running surfaces is released and at least partially stored in the form of potential energy by the counterweight when the moveable guide beam is moved from the turnout position to the tangent position.

WAYSIDE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM USING POWER GRID LINES

A wayside communication system for transmitting coded current signals through running rails of a railroad track between wayside control devices. A power line common to the wayside control devices is used as the return path for the current signals. The system features train and broken rail detection. The system allows sending signals long distances since rail to rail current leakage is no longer an issue.

A railroad switch machine includes a pair of switch blades, an electric motor mechanically coupled to the pair of switch blades, a pair of input terminals connected to a DC power supply for receiving a power signal and a regulator to adapt the power signal between the input terminals into a motor current applied to the electric motor. The regulator includes a plurality of switches connected between the pair of input terminals and two phases of the electric motor. The switches are transistors and the regulator also includes a controller adapted to drive each transistor with a respective command signal to adjust a value and a direction of an intensity of the motor current.
