AUTOMATED POSITIVE TRAIN CONTROL EVENT DATA EXTRACTION AND ANALYSIS ENGINE AND METHOD THEREFOR
A system and method for automating workflow and performing root cause analysis for enforcement events is presented. The system can enable accurate detection of an enforcement event and identifies the root cause of such events. The system can provide a user with an interface to monitor the enforcement event by collecting a list of data characterizing the enforcement event, as well as analyze the data to evaluate what is the root cause of the enforcement event. The system can extract critical information from train system logs of the train using an extraction model to generate a window of activity providing an analysis model with a comprehensive scope to analyze the enforcement event. The system can give the user robust and accurate information of the root cause of the enforcement event.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR RAILROAD SNAPSHOT AND PLAYBACK
A Railroad Snapshot and Playback System and Method is disclosed that can provide a messaging/communication infrastructure configured to generate and route current train related messages for multi-region train routing plans. The types of railroad data being tracked can be organized into one or more domains. A method for railroad snapshot playback can include receiving a plurality of events related to train movements in the rail system; creating a first snapshot that can include the plurality of the events, wherein a number of events in the first snapshot can be based on a snapshot increment; receiving a playback request for a playback state of the rail system; pulling a snapshot and events received after the snapshot based on the playback request; building a state of the rail system using the pulled snapshot and the pulled events; operating controls of the rail system based on the state of the rail system.
Systems and methods for identifying potential deficiencies in railway environment objects
In one embodiment, a method includes capturing, by a machine vision device, an image of an object in a railway environment. The machine vision device is attached to a first train car that is moving in a first direction along a first railroad track of the railway environment. The method also includes analyzing, by the machine vision device, the image of the object using one or more machine vision algorithms to determine a value associated with the object. The method further includes determining, by the machine vision device, that the value associated with the object indicates a potential deficiency of the object and communicating, by the machine vision device, an alert to a component external to the first train car. The alert comprises an indication of the potential deficiency of the object.
METHOD FOR CARRYING OUT AN EMERGENCY STOP FOR A TRAIN
A method carries out a requested emergency stop for a train in order to bring the train to a stop at a suitable point on the route travelled by the train. On the train side, a list is provided in which, for the route to be travelled by the train, zones are defined where the train is allowed to stop and/or is not allowed to stop in the event of a requested emergency stop. When the train is travelling, a request for an emergency stop is automatically recorded and analyzed by the train without the involvement of the driver. The train carries out an automated determination of the position of the train in relation to the route being travelled, which is carried out independently of route-side apparatuses. Depending on the position of the train, a suitable zone where the train can be brought to a standstill for the emergency stop to be carried out is automatically selected from the list.
Methods and systems for aggregating and leveraging location-based data generated by train recorder devices
Example embodiments relate to train data recorder and event notification systems and techniques for using such systems. An example device includes a housing configured to attach onto a train with multiple sensors located in the housing, such as a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver, an inertial measurement unit (IMU), and a camera that can capture images of an environment outside the housing. The device also includes a memory and a processor located inside the housing where the processor is configured to receive sensor data from at least one of the sensors and store the sensor data on the memory. A central computing system can aggregate location-based data generated by train data recording devices positioned on one or multiple trains and map the data to the network of train tracks to detect trends and provide insights to operators.
