Relative velocity based train protection method and apparatus

Provided is a relative velocity train protection method and apparatus. The method includes the following steps: a preceding train and a following train in two successive trains calculate their safe spatial-temporal trajectory information in a stopping process using an electronic map, velocity measurement and positioning information, and performance of the train (S11); the following train obtains the spatial-temporal trajectory information of the preceding train through vehicle-to-vehicle communication (S12); the following train creates a safety condition according to a constraint that a position of the following train does not surpass that of the preceding train at any time, and solves the emergency brake intervention (EBI) velocity of the following train (S13); the following train determines whether its measured velocity v.sub.2(t.sub.0) exceeds the EBI velocity E.sub.2(t.sub.0), and if so, make the following train decelerate until the following train stops (S14).

INTERCONNECTION AND INTERCOMMUNICATION METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR VIRTUAL MARSHALLING TRAIN CONTROL SYSTEM IN HEAVY HAUL RAILWAY

An interconnection and intercommunication method and system for a virtual marshalling train control system in a heavy haul railway. The method includes: determining a switching area for switching ground equipment between an existing line and a virtual marshalling line; switching a ground equipment control right when a train runs to within a range of the switching area; and after switching of the ground equipment control right is completed, sending, by the ground equipment in the virtual marshalling line, a marshalling command to on-board equipment of the train, and virtually marshalling, by the on-board equipment, the train corresponding to the on-board equipment and a front train in a formation based on the marshalling command. According to the present invention, the switching between different signal systems can be implemented, and the efficiency of train operation can be improved.

System and method for virtual block operational status control with long block time delay

A system and method for virtual block operational status control with long block time delay is presented. The present disclosure can advantageously increase the capacity and safety of the existing railroad track infrastructure used by the railroads by determining whether a virtual block is healthy or unhealthy. The long block mode can provide a coarse granularity on the presence of a train. In virtual block mode, the system can implement a finer granularity so the virtual aspects of the sub blocks can be realized. The present disclosure provides a long block mode that can provide the system an opportunity to analyze the potential tradeoffs between granularity and reliability by determining which mode (virtual block or long block) is best utilized in a given situation. The system can operate by default in long block mode and ignore the virtual block capabilities until absolutely needed.
