RAILROAD VIRTUAL TRACK BLOCK SYSTEM

A method of railroad track control includes partitioning a physical track block into a plurality of virtual track blocks, the physical track block defined by first and second insulated joints disposed at corresponding first and second ends of a length of railroad track. The presence of an electrical circuit discontinuity in one of the plurality of virtual track blocks; is detected and in response a corresponding virtual track block position code indicating the presence of the discontinuity in the one of the plurality of virtual track blocks is generated.

Moving block signaling headway calculation system

According to one embodiment, a moving block signaling headway calculation system recursively executes a process until an interval reaches a limit value. The process includes calculating headway values for a plurality of points on the running section for each interval, extracting a section between adjacent two points, in which an amount of variation in the headway values between the adjacent two points exceeds a threshold value, a section between two points before and after a front point and an end point of a point or a section where a headway value changes from rise to fall, or a section between two points before and after a front point and an end point of a point or a section where a headway value changes from fall to rise, and subdividing the interval in the extracted sections.

SELF-DRIVING SINGLE-CAR TRAIN SYSTEM
20210171069 · 2021-06-10 ·

A train system having a train element consisting of a single train car configured to travel along a rail system, and including an enclosed first use area and a flat car section. The flat car section includes a drive-on loading area configured to enable a vehicle to be driven onto the flat car section and then transported by the train car. Train element includes a drive system for moving the train element along the rail system and a control system for autonomously controlling the operation of the train car. A sensor system collects sensor data and provides the sensor data, as inputs, to the control system. Sensor data is used by the control system in operating the train car. Lastly, a power system independently powers the drive system and control system.

VEHICLE COMMUNICATION AND CONTROL SYSTEM

A system includes one or more processors and a communication device onboard a first remote vehicle of a vehicle system that includes a controlling vehicle. The one or more processors are configured to establish a communication link with the controlling vehicle, and, in a first mode of operation, to automatically control movement of the designated remote vehicle responsive to movement-control messages received from the controlling vehicle over the communication link. The one or more processors are also configured, responsive to receipt of a designated suspend message from the controlling vehicle, to switch the designated remote vehicle from the first mode of operation to a second mode of operation where movement of the designated remote vehicle is controlled independently of the controlling vehicle while maintaining the communication link.
