System and method for virtual block stick circuits
A system and method for virtual block stick circuits is presented. The present disclosure implements specialized algorithms adapted to determine the true status of a virtual block based on multiple inputs from different perspectives. In one embodiment, the system can use the far house perspective of that virtual track segment and the PTC hazard for the near virtual track segment directly adjacent to the near house uses the near house perspective of that virtual track segment. For the middle virtual track segments, the near house perspectives of the middle virtual track segments are held ‘TRUE’ if they are already ‘TRUE’ when the train first enters the block, using stick circuits for the near house perspective of the middle track circuits. The vital application can then indicate the true state of the virtual track segment as occupied (FALSE), to protect the train from trains that follow.

Disclosed is a comprehensive inspection vehicle for a subway tunnel, including a positioning system, an acquisition system and a flatcar. The flatcar runs on a railway of the subway tunnel. The positioning system and the acquisition system are arranged on the flatcar. The positioning system includes a laser ranging module and an inertial navigation module. The comprehensive inspection vehicle further includes an independent power supply system and a central control system arranged on the flatcar. The independent power supply system supplies power for the acquisition system, the positioning system and the central control system. The central control system includes an acquisition industrial computer and a positioning industrial computer which are respectively connected to the acquisition system and the positioning system.

The system additionally includes a circuit for detecting a geographic position, wherein the condition monitoring unit is configured to be at least one of activated and deactivated depending on the detected geographic position.
TRAIN SIMULATOR TEST SET AND METHOD THEREFOR
A train simulator test set is disclosed that can be operably coupled to a railroad track to measure the resting impedance of that track circuit and simulate a train by varying the railroad track inductance over a set period of time. The test set can select the speed, direction, and number of trains to simulate. By applying a variable inductance on the railroad tracks, the test set can simulate a train moving at variable speeds toward and away from the island. The test set can apply inductances to the railroad tracks to simulate two or more trains moving in each direction of the tracks at the same time, along with multiple looks and routes. The train simulator test set can include simulation software to vary the parameters of the train simulation and couple a variable inductance on the railroad tracks.

A system for connecting and disconnecting rail vehicle system for storing, transporting, and delivering bulk electric energy using railroads is described. The system includes. The group of rails cars includes several rail cars with energy storage, power electronics and communication system. The rail car further includes a pantograph. The system further includes at least one position controls system. The position control system is configured to be coupled to the geographical location of at least one electrical feeder, and it is substantially dedicated for aligning the geographical location of at least one group of rail cars with the geographical location of the respective electrical feeders for the group of rail cars. The system further includes energy management system for the controls of charging and discharging of onboard energy storage on the rail vehicle system.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR IDENTIFYING PROPERTIES OF A VEHICLE, COMPUTER PROGRAM PRODUCT AND COMPUTER-READABLE MEDIUM FOR STORING AND/OR PROVIDING THE COMPUTER PROGRAM PRODUCT
A method for identifying properties of rail-guided vehicles uses an axle counter to detect vehicle measurement data as the vehicle crosses. The measurement data are analyzed in a computer and speed and distances between vehicle axles are ascertained. A property of the vehicle is ascertained in a computer based on the ascertained speed and distances between axles. A checking step ascertains a pattern of normal distances between axles in that a normal distance between axles calculated by considering a predefined normal speed is assigned to each ascertained distance between axles, and by considering their order, the normal distances between axles merge to form the pattern. The pattern is compared with reference patterns, and upon identified conformity of the pattern and reference pattern, a type linked to the reference pattern is assigned to the vehicle as a property. An apparatus and computer program determining properties of vehicles are also provided.
Automatic train operation system in railway vehicles
The present disclosure relates to an automatic train operation system in railway vehicles, the system including: a speed profile generation unit configured to generate speed profile information based on limited speed profile inputted from outside; a track database stored with track gradient information and track curvature information for each track segment; a train speed controller configured to control a speed of the train using a current position, a current speed and the speed profile information of the train inputted from outside; and a propulsion system fault diagnosis unit configured to diagnose a fault status of the propulsion system based on the current speed of the train, the track gradient information, the track curvature information and propulsion notch information inputted from the train speed controller, and to calculate a performance depreciation ratio when the propulsion system is faulted and to provide the performance depreciation ratio to the train speed controller.
RAILROAD CAR LOCATION, SPEED, AND HEADING DETECTION SYSTEM AND METHODS WITH SELF-POWERED WIRELESS SENSOR NODES
A railroad car location, speed and heading sensor system including at least one self-powered, tie-mounted sensor node that is applicable universally to different railroad settings without using track circuits, inductive loops, radar systems, and wheel counters and associated disadvantages. Reliable and relatively low cost deterministic and redundant car presence detection is realized when multiple sensor nodes are arranged in a network, which may be a wireless mesh network, that is not affected by environmental conditions.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR VEHICLE CONTROL BASED ON DETECTED WHEEL CONDITION
A system is provided that includes a detection circuit having a first and second sensor. The first sensor is configured to measure a rotational speed of a first wheel. The second sensor is coupled to a vehicle chassis and configured to measure a position over time of the vehicle chassis. The system further includes a controller circuit configured to determine a shock frequency based on the position of the vehicle chassis. The controller circuit is further configured to determine a condition (e.g., an anomalous condition) of the first wheel based on the shock frequency and the rotational speed, and may be further configured for vehicle control based on the determined condition.
AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE SYSTEM AND METHOD
A system includes a mobile platform that moves under remote and/or autonomous control, a sensor package supported by the mobile platform that obtains information relating to a component of a transportation network, and one or more processors that receive the sensor information and analyze the information in combination with other information that is not obtained from the sensor package. The processors also generate an output that displays information relating to one or more of a status, a condition, and/or a state of health of the component of the transportation network; initiates an action to change an operational state of the component; identifies a hazard to one or more vehicles traveling within the transportation network; and/or collects the information relating to the component. Optionally, the component is not communicatively coupled to an information network and the mobile platform provides the information obtained by the sensor package to the information network.
