INTERLOCKING DEVICE

An interlocking device performs route control for trains based on: first operation diagram information as train operation diagram information on a train which runs between stations; second operation diagram information as train operation diagram information on a train which moves in a station yard; and on-track position information on the trains. The interlocking device performs control with time on a signal and/or a switch on a route of a train based on different information according to whether a predetermined condition is satisfied.

Railroad Locomotive Monitoring System Configuration System and Method
20170217462 · 2017-08-03 ·

A railroad locomotive monitoring system configuration system for a plurality of trains comprising: a monitoring system, and an on-board computer programmed or configured to: determine or receive railroad locomotive data; determine or receive railroad operation data; determine or receive configuration data; and based at least partially on at least a portion of the railroad locomotive data, at least a portion of the railroad operation data, and at least a portion of the configuration data, automatically configure at least one setting of the at least one component of the monitoring system.

System and method for predicting failures of train components

A system may include a data acquisition hub connected to databases and sensors associated with locomotives, systems, or components of a train and configured to acquire real-time and historical configuration, structural, and operational data in association with inputs derived from real time and historical contextual data relating to a plurality of trains. The system may include a virtual system modeling engine configured to receive results of a non-destructive evaluation of a train component, simulate in-train forces, determine a predicted time of failure for the train component based on an evaluation of stresses that have already been applied to the component and expected future stresses, and implement repair, replacement, or operational protocols for the train component before or at a repair facility that will be reached by the train ahead of a predetermined minimum threshold time period before the predicted time of failure.

Video Content Analysis System and Method for Transportation System

A video content analysis system for mobile assets that includes track detection and infrastructure monitoring component. The track detection and infrastructure monitoring includes a reinforcement learning component, an object detection and location component, and an obstruction detection component to analyze video data, audio data, vehicle data, weather data, and route/manifest data to determine internal and/or external conditions relating to an the asset. A data acquisition and recording system uploads the data, internal and/or external condition information, object detection information, object location information, and obstruction detection information to a remote memory module and provides streaming video data in real-time to a remotely located user. Remotely located users can view the data in various view modes through a web browser or virtual reality device, which provides for quicker emergency response, validates the effectiveness of repairs and rerouting, and monitors crew performance and safety.

Train-information management device and train-crew support method

A motorman's cab in a train is provided with a plurality of door operating switches that open and close the train doors on the station-platform side in a fully-automatic manner, in a semi-automatic manner, or in a manner that open and close doors in sections. A central device includes an information control unit that specifies a stopping station where a train stops next on the basis of train information; selects a recommended door operating switch at the stopping station from among the door operating switches on the basis of an estimated passenger-number value, which is the number of passengers at the stopping station, as a recommended door operating switch for the stopping station; and then it displays display information that prompts the train crew to operate the selected door operating switch on a display device in the control platform.

System and method for protecting train event data
09813405 · 2017-11-07 · ·

Systems and methods for protecting and preventing unauthorized transfer or downloading of recorded train event data for use in a train event recording system of a train. A train event recording system and an authenticated data storage device are also disclosed. According to one preferred and non-limiting embodiment, provided is a system for protecting recorded train event data, the system including at least one external memory device having encrypted authentication data stored thereon, the encrypted authentication data including authentication data encrypted with at least one first key.

Remote vehicle operator assignment system
11397432 · 2022-07-26 · ·

An assignment system and method determine time-variable risk profiles for separate vehicle systems that are remotely controlled by operators located off-board the vehicle systems. The time-variable risk profiles represent risks to travel of the vehicle systems that change with respect to time. An operator staffing demand for the vehicle systems may be determined based on the time-variable risk profiles. The staffing demand represents how many operators are needed for remotely controlling the vehicle systems at different times and a required qualification of one or more operators. The system and method also assign operators to remotely monitor and/or control the vehicle systems based on the risk profiles and, optionally, the staffing demand. The operator assigned to one or more vehicle systems changes with respect to time while the vehicle systems are moving along routes.
