METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR DECENTRALIZED RAIL SIGNALING AND POSITIVE TRAIN CONTROL

Systems and methods are provided for decentralized rail signaling and positive train control. A decentralized train control system may include a plurality of wayside units, configured for placement on or near tracks in a railway network, and one or more train-mounted units, each configured for use in a train operating in a railway network that support use of the decentralized train control system. Each train-mounted unit may configured to receive communicate with any wayside unit and/or train-mounted unit that comes within range, with the communicating including use of ultra-wideband (UWB) signals, and for generating control information based on the UWB signals, for use in controlling one or more functions associated with operation of the train.

System and method for track occupancy determination

A method and a system determine a subsequent number of guided vehicles occupying a track section of a railway network. The system has a trackside device configured for controlling and managing a movement authority of a guided vehicle for a track section and at least one neighboring trackside device. Each neighboring trackside device is configured for controlling and managing a movement authority for a directly neighboring track section. The trackside device is configured for calculating the subsequent number of guided vehicles from a number of guided vehicles occupying the track section previously determined by the trackside device and information received from each neighboring trackside device regarding a number of guided vehicles entering, from the track section. The directly neighboring track section is controlled by the neighboring trackside device and a number of guided vehicles leaving the directly neighboring track section for the track section.

The invention relates to a portable device for measuring vertical rail measurements under service to record and report excessive vertical rail movement to prevent a train from derailing. The device may be pivoting with a tilt sensor and light-weight. The device may include a microprocessor, sensors, and a display. The device may be installed on the rail. The device may sense an approaching train, automatically turn on the device, and measure the real-time vertical displacement and the maximum/minimum vertical movement of the rail while the train is operating over the rail at all speeds.

GLOBAL TRAIN-LOCALIZATION SYSTEM
20230242165 · 2023-08-03 ·

The present disclosure relates to a global train-localization system. The system may autonomously send a precise location of a train to effectively cope with train location recognition in a case of various faults or degradations. The localization system includes: a backup localization unit installed on the train and configured to read beacon location information on a track; and a global train-localization system (GTS) server configured to receive, store and convert train localization information sent by the backup localization unit and to perform output and display. Compared to the prior art, the present disclosure has the advantages of effectively coping with system degradation, namely, tracking the location of the train in real time even in a case of complete fault of a signal system, etc.
