BARRIER GATE ARM WITH RECESSED LIGHT HOUSING
A vehicle barrier gate arm is pivotable between an upward and downward position. The gate arm has an exterior wall and one or more recessed light housings within visor channels. Each light housing may contain a light system such as an LED light strip or a light rope. The light housing is positioned at the medial end of a visor channel. The visor channel is defined by two opposing, parallel visor channel walls. Each channel wall has a retaining fin extending perpendicularly from it into the visor channel, thereby forming an aperture in the light housing. The light housing is situated between the retaining fins and a backwall. The retaining fins and the channel walls form crooks within the upper and lower corners of the visor channels. The visor channels and the crooks shade the light housing and create dark regions of the channels. The shaded channels provide a stronger contrast between illuminated and non-illuminated visor channels, allowing an observer to better determine whether the LED lights strips, which often act as signals, are activated or are not activated.

Gate crossing arm collision detection system and method
A detection and warning system is provided for a railroad crossing. The system comprises a sensor configured to be mounted on an underside of a gate arm of a railroad crossing gate to detect a presence of a vehicle or other object that is obstructing the railroad crossing. The system further comprises a communication interface coupled to the sensor. In response to a detection of the vehicle or the other object, the communication interface to relay a warning signal indicative of a possible collision on the railroad crossing with the vehicle or the other object.

Railway signal crossing bypass
An apparatus for use with a railway safety system having a circuit for enabling and disabling a safety device when trains are approaching or within a railway crossing. The apparatus may include an override switch, a flag, and a light, and may generate a control signal received by and configured to override the safety device circuit. The flag and the light may indicate to approaching trains that the safety device of the railway safety system has been overridden.

Multiple direction railroad gate release mechanism
A multiple direction railroad gate release mechanism which is attached between the mount arms of a railroad gate actuator and a crossing arm to prevent breakage of the crossing arm due to impingement in either a frontal or rearward direction by a vehicle or other outside force. A primary pivot arm assembly allows a released movement of the crossing arm in reaction to frontal impingement and returns the crossing arm to the original and detent position subsequent to an impingement in order to maintain grade crossing protection. Spring assemblies, a shock absorber and a spring centering assembly act to return the primary pivot arm assembly and attached crossing arm to a normal detent position. A secondary pivot arm assembly is secured to the primary pivot arm assembly whereby the secondary pivot arm assembly can act independently of the primary pivot arm assembly to allow released movement and return of the crossing arm in reaction to rear impingement.
