Providing trip status in a vehicle

A computer having a processor and memory storing instructions executable by the processor. The computer is programmed to: determine a total trip parameter associated with a destination of an occupant of a vehicle; determine a progress parameter since an outset of an occupant trip; and control a light output of a status assembly, wherein the output represents the parameters.

Automated signal compliance monitoring and alerting system

An automated signal compliance monitoring and alerting system (ASCMAS) that automatically monitors and provides historical and real-time alerting for mobile assets in violation of a signal aspect, such as a stop light, traffic light, and/or speed limit signal, and/or operating the mobile asset unsafely in an attempt to maintain compliance to a signal. ASCMAS works in conjunction with a data acquisition and recording system (DARS) for mobile assets that includes a data center onboard the mobile asset and a data center remote from the mobile asset. A first artificial intelligence model of at least one of the data centers determines whether the mobile asset is a leading and/or controlling mobile asset. From video content obtained from one of the data centers, a second artificial intelligence model determines an episode involving the mobile asset.

Systems and methods for railway asset management. The methods comprise: using a virtual reality device to recognize and collect real world information about railway assets located in a railyard; and using the real world information to (i) associate a railway asset to a data collection unit, (ii) provide an individual with an augmented reality experience associated with the railyard and/or (iii) facilitate automated railyard management tasks.

DIGITAL CONTEXT-AWARE DATA COLLECTION

Examples relate to digital context aware (DCA) data collection. In some examples, a DCA start location component is positioned at a first location along a travel route, and a DCA end location component is positioned at a second location along the travel route. In response to using a wireless interface to detect the DCA start location component, data collection of measurements by a sensor are initiated. In response to using the wireless interface to detect the DCA end location component, the data collection by the sensor is halted.

Rail breakage detection device and rail breakage detection system

A purpose of the invention is to provide a rail breakage detection device mountable also on a vehicle. The invention is directed to a rail breakage detection device that receives: transmission-device state information indicating whether a rail signal transmission device that sends a rail signal is normal; reception-device state information indicating whether a rail signal reception device that receives a voltage induced by the rail signal is normal; and reception state information indicating whether a voltage induced by the rail signal reception device is received, and the rail breakage detection device performs rail breakage detection on the basis of the transmission-device state information, the reception-device state information, and the reception state information.

Discharge Gate Sensing Method, System and Assembly
20220135093 · 2022-05-05 ·

A system, method and assembly for detecting the operational status of one or more discharge gates on one or more railcars. The system and method monitor parameters that include whether the discharge gate is open or closed, whether the railcar is in motion or not, and whether the railcar is in a location where it is acceptable for the discharge gate to be open. Sensors carry out the monitoring, and the information obtained by monitoring the parameters are used to determine if a notification event has taken place and if so, a notification of such event can be transmitted to a remote receiver. A change in the status of any one of the monitored parameters can trigger the determination of whether a notification event has occurred.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DETERMINING THE POINT LOCATION OF A STOPPED VEHICLE ON A STORAGE TRACK, USING VIRTUAL BEACONS
20220135096 · 2022-05-05 ·

A method for determining the point location of a vehicle stopped on one storage track among a set of storage tracks, using virtual beacons is provided. It determines and compares the likelihood of a plurality of hypotheses as to the stopped location of the vehicle, corresponding to a first set of NBe predefined virtual beacons Be(i), i varying from 1 to NBe, the respective positions of which are known in an amount of one virtual beacon per storage track, by correlating the GNSS geo-positioning signals received at various synchronization reset times of a second set by the GNSS receiver located on board the vehicle with predicted GNSS geo-positioning signals of replicas expected for the various positions of the virtual beacons of the first set at the various times. The detected holding position of the vehicle is the position that corresponds to the maximum likelihood.

Condition monitoring system

A condition monitoring system for monitoring a rolling element bearing. The system includes a signal processing unit and a vibration energy harvester. The vibration energy harvester provides an electromagnetic transducer. When vibrated, a coil moves relative to a static electromagnetic field to create power. To create a compact and efficient condition monitoring system, it uses the electromagnetic transducer also as a vibration sensor, a velocity sensor. The signal processing unit determines if the bearing has been damaged and in some embodiments also the extent of the damage. The electromagnetic transducer is attached directly or indirectly to the rolling element bearing.

Vehicle control system

A vehicle control system includes a movement sensor configured to output information indicative of movement of a vehicle system and a controller configured to determine whether the vehicle system has stopped moving based on the information that is output from the movement sensor. The controller is configured to increment a counter based on a length of time that the vehicle system has remained stopped. The controller is configured to control operation of the vehicle system based on the counter that is incremented.
