A distributed ultrasound system includes a portable ultrasound system comprising: one or more transmitters configured to transmit ultrasound waves into a subject region; one or more receivers configured to receive ultrasound waves from the subject region in response to the ultrasound waves transmitted into the subject region; and a portable ultrasound processing unit configured to perform ultrasound image processing for generating one or more ultrasound images of the subject region using, at least in part, the ultrasound waves received from the subject region by the one or more receivers, wherein the portable ultrasound system is handheld and capable of being moved over a patient's body to an area proximate to the subject region; and an external ultrasound docking unit configured to receive and electrically couple with the portable ultrasound system and offload at least a portion of the ultrasound image processing from the portable ultrasound system when the portable ultrasound system is coupled to the external ultrasound docking unit, wherein the portable ultrasound system determines whether to offload the at least a portion of the ultrasound image processing based at least one of a temperature or a battery level of portable ultrasound system.

System and method for locating an ultrasound imaging device from a multi-use electronic display device

An ultrasound imaging system comprising a multi-use electronic display device and an ultrasound imaging device. The multi-use electronic display device is capable of communicating with one or more ultrasound imaging devices and selecting which to connect with based on at least one of previously store information, user input, and information gathered from the ultrasound imaging devices. The multi-use electronic display device may communicate with the ultrasound imaging devices while they are in a low power standby state. This approach reduces the complexity of the pairing process and provides a means for quickly and easily selecting between multiple ultrasound imaging devices.

REMOVABLE CABLE CONNECTOR

A removable cable connector engages with an electronic device such that the removable cable connector removably yet securely attaches to the electronic device. In some embodiments, the electronic device includes a plate configured to guide an electronic plug of the removable cable connector toward an electronic receptacle of the electronic device. The plate may be further configured to include one or more locators for holding the electronic receptacle of the electronic device in place. The removable cable connector may include a molded housing formed using a two-shot overmolding process to form a first overmolded strain relief portion and a second overmolded strain relief portion which cover fasteners that fasten a face plate to the connector.

HIGH PERFORMANCE HANDHELD ULTRASOUND

A handheld ultrasound device may comprise components configured to provide decreased size, weight, complexity, and power consumption. The handheld ultrasound device may comprise a beamformer configured to implement and compress a flag table in place of a delay table. These improvements can decrease the amount of memory used to generate ultrasound images, which can decrease the size, weight, and power consumption of the handheld ultrasound device. Ultrasound image data on a handheld imaging probe can be compressed on the handheld imaging probe prior to transmission from the probe in order to decrease the amount of data transmitted from the probe. The compressed data may comprise compressed pixels to maintain spatial image resolution. The compression circuitry may comprise an amount of memory related to a dynamic range of the compressed data that is independent of the dynamic range of the input data, which can decrease memory, power consumption, and latencies.

To reduce noise which leaks to the outside in an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus. An internal AC wiring unit 34 is composed of internal AC wiring which is installed on the input side of a power source circuit, and a shield case 38 which accommodates it. The internal AC wiring includes an inlet, a plurality of connectors, a relay substrate, and a plurality of internal AC cables. The internal AC wiring is protected from radiation noise which is generated in a casing 22 by the shield case 38. Thereby, the noise which leaks to the outside via an external AC cable is reduced.

SIMULTANEOUS SENSOR TRACKING IN MEDICAL INTERVENTIONS

A controller (120) for simultaneously tracking multiple sensors in a medical intervention includes a circuit (121-181) that causes the controller (120) to execute a process. The process executed by the circuit (121-181) includes receiving first and second signals respectively from a first and a second passive ultrasound sensor (S2) used in the medical intervention. The first and second signals respectively include first and second sensor information indicative of respective locations of the first and the second passive ultrasound sensor (S2). The process executed by the circuit (121-181) also includes combining (120) the first signal and the second signal for transmission over only one channel, and providing the first signal and the second signal over the only one channel to a system (190) that determines the location of the first passive ultrasound sensor (51) and the location of the second passive ultrasound sensor (S2) and that has only the one channel to receive the first signal and the second signal.
