A pallet truck comprises a rolling frame (10) and at least one force sensor (51, 52) for registering and generating as electronic output signal a loading of a load platform (20). The force sensor is coupled to electronic processing means for receiving and processing the output signal, and display means (65) are provided for generating a visual weight indication. At least a part of the processing means is accommodated together with a first electronic power supply in a first housing (50) forming part of the frame (10). The display means (65) are arranged together with a second electronic power supply in a second housing (60) on or close to a handle (45) of an operating arm. A wired first connection (56) is provided between the force sensor (51, 52) and the processing means. Telecommunication means are provided for establishing and maintaining a wireless second connection (57) between the first housing (50) and the second housing (60).

A cart robot analyzing a hand motion of a user is disclosed. The cart robot comprises a code input interface obtaining a product identification code, a sensor detecting a hand motion of a user, a weight measuring device measuring a weight of one or more products contained in a product loading space, and a controller. When there is no change in weight of the loaded products, the cart robot updates a shopping list with respect to the products loaded in the product loading space in real time by analyzing the hand motion of the user. Therefore, the convenience of the user is enhanced.

Autonomous Utility Cart and Robotic Cart Platform

A robotic cart platform with a navigation and movement system that integrates into a conventional utility cart to provide both manual and autonomous modes of operation. The platform includes a drive unit with drive wheels replacing the front wheels of the cart. The drive unit has motors, encoders, a processor and a microcontroller. The system has a work environment mapping sensor and a cabled array of proximity and weight sensors, lights, control panel, battery and on/off, GO and emergency stop buttons secured throughout the cart. The encoders obtain drive shaft rotation data that the microcontroller periodically sends to the processor. When in autonomous mode, the system provides navigation, movement and location tracking with or without wireless connection to a server. Stored destinations are set using its location tracking to autonomously navigate the cart. When in manual mode, battery power is off, and back-up power is supplied to the encoders and microcontroller, which continue to obtain shaft rotation data. When in autonomous mode, the shaft rotation data obtained during manual mode is used to determine the present cart location.

A weight system includes a cart comprising a plurality of wheels and a frame on the plurality of wheels. The frame has a plurality of rails, and a basket is suspended from the plurality of rails of the frame. A weight sensor is coupled at one end to the suspended basket and attached at another end to one of the plurality of rails of the frame from which the basket is suspended. The weight sensor is adapted to detect weight change of the basket when an item is placed into or removed from the basket.

The apparatus may include a kingpin-less swivel rear wheel, a rear wheel brake to preclude rotation of the rear wheel about an axle of the rear wheel, and an actuator to actuate the rear brake when the rear wheel is in any position over a 360-degree range. The wheels may be positioned adjacent respective corners of a triangularly shaped base tubing, and the apparatus may further include a clinometer.

The sensor unit comprises various sensors placed at each corner of the cart and sensory net placed at base of the cart. At least one sensory line connects sensors and sensory net. The sensors generate sensor data by detecting item placed into or taken away from cart. The sensory net detects change in weight of cart and generate sensory net data. The processing unit processes sensor data and sensory net data and accordingly retrieves information of item from at least one item database. Based on retrieved information, processing unit calculates subtotal of item and grand total cost of all items in cart and are displayed to user on display screen long with item details. Sensors, sensory net and sensory line together identifies item added into cart or removed from cart, and maintain integrity of items in basket.
