Improved Collection and Storage Apparatus
This invention relates to an evidence collection and storage apparatus for use in forensic examination and sample collection processes. The apparatus consists of a container and a swab, the swab including a handle portion, shaft portion and a removable head portion, wherein the container includes a cavity adapted to store an object or substance, a lid including a portion of nanomesh and a swab head portion removing means that engages the head portion of the swab within the cavity, enabling the head portion of the swab to be removed or partially removed from the shaft portion of the swab and stored in the container.
CARTRIDGES FOR ORAL FLUID ANALYSIS AND METHODS OF USE
A disposable cartridge can be used for biofluid sample collection, preparation, and mixing with reagents. After sample collection, the cartridge can be inserted into a reader for sample analysis. This system can be used for detecting and measuring analytes, such as drugs, in saliva for example. This is useful for point of test detection of drugs in applications such as workplace drug testing and driving under the influence of drugs testing.
Integrated device for analyte testing, confirmation, and donor identity verification
An apparatus for testing a fluid sample including a sample receiving member having an opening for receiving a fluid sample, wherein the sample receiving member comprises a sample collection chamber; a fluid collector to collect the fluid sample and transfer the fluid sample into the sample receiving member, the fluid collector comprising a lancet and an absorbent material to absorb the fluid sample; and a test cartridge member in fluid communication with the sample collection chamber.
LOW-COST ENVIRONMENTAL CONTAMINANT ANALYSIS FOR CUSTOMIZED TREATMENT
Systems, methods, and devices for identifying molds or bacteria contained in a sample are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, a device can be used to perform analysis of a sample and identifying molds or bacteria contained within. The device may include a sample collection tool for collecting and holding a sample. The device may also include a sample receptacle, which may have an agar portion disposed within the sample receptacle and an inlet port. There may be a binary tree of medicines distributed within the agar portion. The inlet port may be configured to receive an end of a sample collection tool, wherein full insertion of the sample collection tool through the inlet port causes the sample to be placed in contact with the agar portion. Mold or bacteria from the collected sample may grow or attempt to grow throughout the agar, through the binary tree, and visual analysis of the growth paths may allow the mold or bacteria to be identified and the best combination of medicines to be determined.
NETWORKED INTOXICATION VEHICLE IMMOBILIZATION
A vehicle immobilization system includes a detection element operable to detect a level of an intoxicant in a user's breath. A control module is operable to receive a signal from the detection element indicating the level of intoxicant in the user's breath, and to selectively restrict operation of a vehicle based on the level of intoxicant in the user's breath exceeding a threshold. A wireless relay is operable to replace a standard relay in the vehicle, and to wirelessly communicate with the control module such that the control module is operable to control the wireless relay to selectively restrict operation of the vehicle.
SAMPLE CONTAINER WITH INTEGRATED TEST STRIP
A test device for detection and visual identification of a specific analyte in a liquid sample such as a bodily fluid is disclosed. The device includes a collection container, a test strip affixed to an interior surface of the collection container, and a removable protective strip adhered over the test strip. The protective strip is configured to be removed from contact with the test strip after the liquid sample has been collected in order to prevent unnecessary exposure and/or contamination of the test strip. In certain embodiments, the protective strip may be removed from the contact with the test strip when the collection container is in a sealed configuration. In other embodiments, the protective strip may be dissolvable when placed in contact with the desired liquid sample. An assay specific to the anticipated analyte may be provided on the test strip.
PROCESS AND DEVICES FOR ACTIVATING A DRUG MEASURING DEVICE, ESPECIALLY AN ALCOHOL MEASURING DEVICE
A process and an activation device (30) provides a user (B) activation of a drug measuring device (100). This drug measuring device includes an input unit (3), a testing unit (6) for testing given samples and an image recording device (12). The activation device (30) receives an activation image set (InB), which was generated by the drug measuring device or by a drug measuring device and at least one image (40, 40.1) from the image recording device. The received activation image set is checked as to meeting a predefined release criterion. For this the activation image set is compared with a predefined reference image set (35) for the user. If the release criterion is met, the drug measuring device is released for the user. An activation data set (32) for the user is completed by at least one image of the activation image set, which shows the user.
Components and Kits for Collecting, Securing, Identifying and Tracking Unique Samples
The present specification discloses collection kits for collecting a biological sample being handled by a chain-of-custody protocol and methods and uses for collecting a sample using such collection kits. In some aspects, a collection kit disclosed herein can comprise one or more identification labels, a sample collection device, one or more sample containers, and a collecting pouch. In some aspects, a collection kit disclosed herein can comprise one or more sample containers, a sample shipping container, one or more identification labels, and a collecting pouch.
SOBRIETY MONITORING SYSTEM
A system and method of monitoring sobriety using a hand-held breath testing device that, on receipt of a user's breath, generates a breath test signal comprising substance content data and user identification data, and wirelessly transmits the breath test signal to a breath test signal receiving station.
Identification of consumed drugs and food by unique near infrared tag libraries
We disclose a method of tagging nutritional or drug compositions using chemical entities which are known to be safely consumed and which are detectable using known techniques, including near IR spectroscopy. The chemical entities used as tags may be detected in easily obtainable biological samples, including urine and feces. The biological sample may be deposited into a medical toilet which may analyze the biological sample using an analytical device associated with the medical toilet. The tag may be identified and quantified to then identify and quantify the nutritional or drug composition the subject consumed along with the tag. This system may be used to track the source of a food or drug, confirm compliance to a prescribed diet or drug treatment, confirm drug consumption in clinical trials, identify the source of contaminated food, and identify the food substances used to produce food products.
