The steering column assembly also includes an intermediate shaft coupled to the steering column shaft first end. The steering column assembly further includes a steering input pinion coupled to the intermediate shaft. The steering column assembly yet further includes a counter rotation mechanism causing a non-rotational condition of at least a portion of the steering shaft via counter rotational movement of the steering column assembly during rotation of the steering input pinion.

STEERING CONTROL DEVICE

A steering control device is configured to control a steering device that changes a transmission ratio between an operation angle of an operation member and a steering angle of a steerable wheel. The steering control device includes: communication lines for transmitting vehicle speed information; and calculators communicably connected to each other and individually connected to the communication lines. Each calculator calculates the transmission ratio based on the vehicle speed information received via a corresponding one of the communication lines and determines whether the received vehicle speed information is valid. When at least one of the calculators determines that the vehicle speed information is not valid, each calculator changes control for calculating the transmission ratio from a vehicle-speed responsive control in which the transmission ratio is calculated based on the vehicle speed information to a specific control in which the transmission ratio is calculated not based on the vehicle speed information.

A method for adjusting the position of a steered wheel of a vehicle includes detecting a steering position value of a steering control device of a vehicle such that the steering position value corresponds to an angular position of the steering control device; calculating a traction speed breakpoint at or above which steering desensitization may occur; and defining a maximum commencement steer angle at or below which steering desensitization may commence. The method also includes determining if the angular position of the steering control device or an angular position of the steered wheel is equal to or less than the maximum commencement steer angle; detecting a traction speed of one of a traction motor or a traction wheel of the vehicle; determining if the traction speed is equal to or above the traction speed breakpoint; and calculating, by the processor, a steering desensitization value when the angular position of one of the steering control device or the steered wheel is equal to or less than the maximum commencement steer angle and the traction speed is equal to or above the traction speed breakpoint.

A method for damping an oscillation of a superimposed steering system of a motor vehicle in which a sensor of the superimposed steering system detects an actual steering angle of a motor of the superimposed steering system and a control device of the superimposed steering system determines an oscillation of the superimposed steering system as a periodic change of the detected actual steering angle and, in the case of a determined oscillation, carries out a measure for damping the oscillation.

Method for controlling a steer-by-wire steering system in a motor vehicle and steer-by-wire steering system
11377139 · 2022-07-05 · ·

A method for controlling a steer-by-wire steering system in a motor vehicle, wherein, by means of an operator element to be actuated by an operator, a control command for actuating a steering actuator acting on at least one wheel to be steered is output, and wherein, by means of a force application element acting on the operator element and in operative connection with the steering actuator, an actuation force for the operator element is set. In the case of a disturbance of the force application element, the steering actuator is actuated so that the control command applied by the operator element is transmitted only in a damped manner to the steering actuator.
