Vehicle Lateral-Control System with Adjustable Parameters
20220234603 · 2022-07-28 ·

The techniques of this disclosure relate to a vehicle lateral-control system with adjustable parameters. The system includes a controller circuit that receives identity data from a driver-monitoring sensor indicating an identity of a driver of a vehicle. The controller circuit receives vehicle lateral-response data from vehicle sensors based on steering maneuvers performed as the vehicle operates under control of the driver. The controller circuit determines lateral-steering parameters of the vehicle based on the vehicle lateral-response data. The controller circuit adjusts lateral-control parameters of the vehicle based on the lateral-steering parameters. The controller circuit associates the adjusted lateral-control parameters of the vehicle with the identity of the driver. The controller circuit operates the vehicle according to the lateral-control parameters associated with the identity of the driver. The system can reproduce the driver's steering behavior while the vehicle is operated in an autonomous-driving mode.

A steering system for a work vehicle having a steerable wheel. The steering system includes a steering input device configured to provide a first steering input and a second steering input to move the steerable wheel. A pilot system is operatively connected to the steering input device and includes a first pilot line operatively connected to the first steering input and a second pilot line operatively connected to the second steering input. A piloted system is operatively connected to the pilot system and includes a direction control valve operatively connected to each of the first and second pilot lines and to a steering cylinder. The steering cylinder is coupled to the steerable wheel. The direction control valve responds to each of the pressure signals of the first and second pilot lines to adjust the position of the steering cylinder which in turn moves the steerable wheel.

Acceptable zone for automated hitching with system performance considerations

A vehicle hitching assistance system including a controller determining a trailer target area to a rear of the vehicle. The trailer target area is positioned within left and right lateral vehicle steering limits, defined in a lateral direction between left and right boundaries respectively spaced inwardly of the left and right lateral vehicle steering limits by one of a system perception factor or a vehicle geometry factor, and defined in a longitudinal direction between a minimum movement limit and a maximum perception limit. The controller further identifies a trailer coupler within the trailer target area and outputs a steering signal to the vehicle to cause the vehicle to steer to align a hitch ball of the vehicle with the coupler during movement of the vehicle.

A blending steering control method includes estimating a handwheel pressure applied by an operator to a handwheel and receiving a handwheel torque input indicating a torque value applied by the operator to the handwheel. The method also includes receiving a target handwheel angle indicating a target handwheel angle of an electronic power steering system configured to control a corresponding vehicle along a defined path. The method also includes generating a scaled operator intent value based on the estimated handwheel pressure and the handwheel torque and generating an output torque value based on the target handwheel angle and scaled operator intent value. The method also includes selectively controlling vehicle trajectory based on the output torque value.
