The rollover prevention apparatus defines an adaptive steering range limiting device comprising a control unit and a pair of opposing unidirectional brake assemblies mounted to a steering column position detection disc. The rollover prevention apparatus prevents the steering wheel of the vehicle from being turned beyond the threshold of vehicle rollover, but otherwise does not restrict the rotational range of motion of the steering wheel of a vehicle.

Differentiation of a resisting torque according to direction of movement of a steering rack for improving feel of driver at the approach to an end-of-travel virtual stop

A method for managing a power steering system assist motor, includes defining, over the functional length of the actuator member, at least one reduced assist area separate from a normal assist area by an end-of-travel virtual threshold, a step of assessing an instantaneous position and a direction of the movement of the actuator member on the functional length, a step of applying an input resistance set point value to the assist motor when the actuator member crosses the end-of-travel virtual threshold in such a way as to move from the normal assist area into the reduced assist area. After the step of applying an input resistance set point value, an output resistance set point value is applied when the actuator member is in the reduced assist area and the direction of the movement of the actuator member is directed from the reduced assist area towards the normal assist area.

VEHICLE STEERING SYSTEM AND VEHICLE STEERING METHOD

A vehicle steering system is applied to a vehicle including wheels including at least turning wheels and includes a steering member, a reaction actuator, a turning device, and an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to: control the turning device based on a target turning angle corresponding to an amount of steering of the steering member; control the reaction actuator such that a steering reaction force based on a first turning axial force corresponding to the target turning angle and a second turning axial force corresponding to an output current or an output torque of the turning device is generated; and change a first proportion of the first turning axial force distributed to the steering reaction force and a second proportion of the second turning axial force distributed to the steering reaction force based on a slip rate of the wheels.

STEERING CONTROL DEVICE

A steering control device includes a control unit configured to perform a calculation based on angle information and to control the operation of a turning section based on a turning control amount. The angle information is obtained by relating the turning control amount for operating the turning section to a steering angle that is an angle by which a steering wheel is steered. The control unit includes a speed increase ratio calculation unit configured to calculate a speed increase ratio based on state variables, and an angle information calculation unit configured to calculate the angle information by converting the steering angle using the speed increase ratio obtained by the speed increase ratio calculation unit.

A steer-by-wire control system adapted for use with a material handling vehicle such as a forklift includes a controller programmed to receive input indicative of a desired direction of travel of the material handling vehicle and to control an actuator coupled with the steered wheels of the material handling vehicle to change the direction of travel of the vehicle.

DIRECTIONAL VEHICLE STEERING CUES

Directional vehicle steering cues are presented to a vehicle operator to suggest a particular steering direction (e.g., left vs. right) or to warn the operator of the directionality of an impending hazard. A directional vehicle steering cue may include one or more changes in steering angle that convey an associated directionality. A directional steering cue can include a first vibration pattern that includes a change in steering angle in a first direction to represent, for example, a suggested right turn, followed by a second vibration pattern that includes a change in steering angle in a second direction opposite to the first direction. The angular rate of change of the steering angle in the first direction may be larger than the angular rate of change of the steering angle in the second direction such that the first vibration pattern is more perceptible to a vehicle operator than the second vibration pattern.

Provided is a steer-by-wire steering system for a vehicle that can prevent the vehicle from suddenly accelerating in a direction which the drive did not anticipate even when the steering angle of the steering member was changed while the vehicle was parked. When the steered angle deviates from the prescribed relationship to the steering angle (ST2: Yes), immediately or upon satisfaction of a trigger condition, the control unit drives the steering actuator to bring the steered angle to come closer to the prescribed relationship to the steering angle (ST16, ST17, ST20, ST21), and sets an upper limit to a speed or an acceleration of the vehicle (ST7).
