A method for localizing a nodule of a patient includes inserting a delivery tool into tissue of a patient, such as lung tissue, releasing the magnetic fiducial into or adjacent a nodule from the delivery tool, and locating the magnetic fiducial with a localization tool.

Compressible knitted adjuncts with finished edges

Stapling assemblies for use with a surgical stapler are provided. In one exemplary embodiment, a stapling assembly can include a cartridge and a knitted adjunct that is configured to be releasably retained on the cartridge. The adjunct can have a tissue-contacting layer formed of at least first fibers, a cartridge-contacting layer formed of at least second fibers, spacer fibers intertwined with and extending between the tissue-contacting layer and the cartridge-contacting layer to thereby connect the tissue-contacting and cartridge-contacting layers together, and at least one fiber interconnecting at least a portion of a terminal edge of each of the tissue-contacting and cartridge-contacting layers to form a finished edge that substantially prevents fraying thereof.

ATRIAL APPENDAGE OCCLUDER FOR CLOSING THE LEFT ATRIAL APPENDAGE

The invention relates to a novel multivalent atrial appendage occluder of hybrid design based on two different atrial appendage occluders, one having a proximal disk-shaped cover and a second version without a proximal cover. The two occluder variants each provide relevant application solutions by themselves. The invention further relates to multiple specified, universal devices composed of predominantly rotationally symmetrical individual parts for producing these different LAA occluders (LAA=Left Atrial Appendage) which are graded in different sizes, for the interventional, catheter-based closure of the left atrial appendage. Axially and radially oriented hooks support the secure and gentle anchoring of the occluders 1 in the retaining area of the atrial appendage 26. As a result, the use of substantially smaller access ports in the interventional application is possible. The two atrial appendage occluder variants, with and without proximal cover 14, can be inserted using the same controllable access port and can be implanted in various sizes individually or in combination with one another and likewise as a hybrid variant of two occluders, one without a proximal cover (14) and one subsequently with a proximal cover (14) in one and the same atrial appendage (24) as shown in FIG. 17. The two atrial appendage occluder variants can each be released during the implantation phase in three stages until they are fully unfolded.

A surgical stapling device includes a tool assembly and a buttress assembly. The tool assembly includes first and second jaw members that are transitionable between closed and open configurations. At least one of the first or second jaw members includes a retention assembly including a support defining a recess. The buttress assembly includes a buttress material and a spine. The buttress material includes first and second portions. The spine includes an elongate portion extending along a length of the first and second portions of the buttress material and an engaging portion attached to the elongate portion in an orthogonal relation. The engaging portion is detachably received in the recess of the support of the retention assembly of the at least one of the first or second jaw members.

FLEXIBLE SURGICAL STAPLER AND STAPLE INSERTION DEVICE

The present invention relates to tissue approximation and fixation, and surgical staples and staple placement devices for surgery and the like. The present invention includes surgical staples having solid first and second legs for anchoring into respective tissue portions, and an elastically deformable bridge monolithically formed with the first leg and the second leg, the legs each forming respective angles greater than 90 degrees with respective portions of said elastically deformable bridge. The present invention also includes staple insertion device comprising a handle portion and substantially parallel insertion portions extending from the handle, the insertion portions each having an interior lateral channel, and each insertion portions having a terminal point.

The system includes an energy unit configured to convert the acoustic energy signals transmitted to therapeutic ultrasound directed to fragment tumors and carcinogenic tissue in the body. The system also includes an energy unit configured to convert the acoustic energy signal transmitted from the energy unit to ultrasonic energy to image and monitor the treatment site with ultrasound. The system also includes a control unit including a computer for data storage and display.

Devices and methods for tissue repair

A tissue repair construct having first and second implants coupled via a flexible element is provided. The flexible element forms an adjustable loop closed with a sliding knot, and has first and second free ends extending from the knot formed by wrapping the second end around the first end. The second implant can have a changeable configuration. The construct can be placed within a surgical site in a patient's body such that the first implant is passed into a bone adjacent to soft tissue and the second implant is disposed on an opposed side of the soft tissue. The first free end of the flexible element is configured to be tensioned to decrease a size of the loop and thereby change the configuration of the second implant and to thereby cause at least the second implant to move towards the first implant.
